THESE HAVE LEFT US Thrs year lrke last Burgard rs losrng another of rts outstandrng men Mr Thomas Chad the present head of the Automobrle Department rs letlrlrlg after a rely busy lrfe rn the automobrle rrrdustry X graduate of Buffalo State Teachers College and the Unrversrty of Buffalo he first worked rn the Engrne Department of the Prerce Arrow Company from 1915 to 1916 He then mosed on to Curtrs Wrrght Company as an Fngrne Tester untrl 1921 Durrng thrs perrod he started the nrglrt school course at Old Elm rn 1918 and was a substrtnte Day School teacher rn 1920 In 1921 he was appornted to the regular Elm stall untrl 1930 when he took hrs first trrp to England Upon hrs return he jorrred the Burgard Automobrle Department In 1941 he was the supervrsor of the all nrght sessron from 10 P M to 6 X N1 From 1942 to 1933 he worked rn the Avratron Engrrre Department Durrng 1912 he toured the Unrted States coast to coast on an 8 000 mrle trrp In 1913 to 1916 he taught Nlaclrrnc Shop at Burgard and hnally rn 1916 rsrth Mr Doeberts retrrement he was appornted to the Head of the Automobrle Department Among hrs other works Mr Chad has organrzed a Soccer Team a Boat Club a Hobby Club and a Harmorrrca Club Mr Thomas Chad Department Charrrnarr Autonmtzve Depm tment Thrs year also marks the retrrement of another loyal teacher Mr Albert Endres Lrke so many of our other teachers Mr Endres began hrs long successful career at Elm Vocatronal as an erenrng school teacher rn 1920 In 1922 he Jorned the regular day school course where he taught trre wulcanrzrng and retreadrng and chassrs rcparr untrl 1934 That year he rrrtroduced a new course to thc Burgard currrculum uhrch stands today rn Room 223 our present shop rn collrsron servrce and repalntlng He left Burgard rn 1940 to enter the Arnry as a Major Upon returrrrng rn 1946 he taught 1Vorld M ar II Veteran Classes untrl 1972 and Korean Xeteran classes untrl 1953 Among hrs other assets he has been actrve rn the mrlrtary Begrnnrng rn 1916 he served wrth the 3rd Freld Artrllery on the Mexrcan border YVrth the begrnnrng of 1fVor1d Mlar I he saw actron rn France ruth the 71 Drvrsron durrng whrch trnre he sam actron rn 1 major battles In 1910 he was responsrble for the organrzatron of the 61st Internal Securrty Battalron NYG where he held the rank of It Colonel In uly 1957 he was retrred from actrve servrce holdrrrg the rank of Lt Col Burgard rs rndeed fortunate to have had such a man on rts faculty For the many years he has served us we of Burgard regret to see the end of another successful career come to a close Mr Albert L Endrcs Auto Mechamcr Mr CharlesA Prerce Auto lllerlzrnlrcs snenfe N11 Ralph H lxrassclt Mr Elmer 1' Roudenbush A1110 Illeclramcs Drau mg To you Mr Chad we of Burgard regret to see another long successful career come to a close M1 Karl Helfrrch
