Class Husfory Thus year 1957 we the graduatung class take tume to revuew and remember those occurrences and events whuch have played a vutal part un our four years at Burgard Early September 1953 we were anxuous and somewhat nervous as we awauted the fatal hour of 9 OO AM We were Freshmen' Soon after a few hectuc weeks we overcame our fears and became a part of the lufe at Burgard The years outstandung event was the celebratuon of the Golden Annuversary of powered flught and Burgard was happy to be a part of the gugantuc avuatuon undustry Throughout the year wuth young and eager munds we accumulated the skulls and knowl edge whuch would one day prove so umportant to us Then suddenly ut was June and exams we looked forward to another year at Burgard September arruved all too soon and we entered our second year We were uustly proud of our newly acquured posutuons un the Burgard student body Thus year luke uts predecessor proved eventful and excutung Burgard became the first hugh school un the natuon to estab lush Explorer Posts as part of uts regular extracurrucular program Equally umportant that year was the organuzatuon of the Burgard Key Club whuch gave another outlet for the abundant energy and actuve spurut of the typucal Burgard boy of the year was the celebratuon of the 250th Annuversary of the burth of Benlamun Franklun Burgard wuth uts school of pruntung us devoted to the memory of Franklun and we were undeed proud to be un such close assocuatuon wuth thus natuonal celebratuon by the pruntung undustrues lt was thus year however when the school suffered great losses un uts normally complete faculty These posutuons were not easuly filled All too soon our uunuor year ended and finally we were ready to accept our envued place un the Burgard student body Senuors The final and most umportant year was here at last Although we were one of the smallest senuor classes un many years we dud much to leave our mark on the hustory of Burgard A Senuor Advusory Board was establushed whuch we hope wull be the forerunner of many to follow The Honors Program was unstututed and we became the first class to graduate wuth thus flne dustunctuon Early un the year Burgard played host to over 5OO members of the Western New York lnterscholastuc Press Assocuatuon and the year was clumaxed by an outstandung Senuor Prom We are undeed happy and wuth deep humuluty we weld another lunk un the chaun of tradutuon of thus great vocatuonal unstututuon 28 .
