f' 0 aaa iafary .... We, the graduating class of 1956 review with nostalgia, our escapades and endeavors while obtaining an education in vocational training. In our Freshman year we were quite awed by the sight of that imposing structure, Burgard Vocational High School. We eagerly awaited news of our ac- ceptance. Those of us who made the grade started in September with enthusiasm and the will to learn. Assemblies, football games and such activities were new to us and all to soon June and examinations arrived. Success lead to our second year at Burgard and we awaited the arrival of the new Freshmen with little thought that not so long ago we too were naive and scared. It was during our Sophomore year that Aviation celebrated its Fiftieth Anniversary and we at Burgard were proud of our contribution to the industry. But again, examination time rolled around all too soon and we sat hopefully in the gymnasium working for advancement. Our third year at Burgard saw another first at Burgard, the Explorer Posts were established and our school gained national recognition for its efforts in the field of Scouting. Also during this year Burgard formed its first Key Club under the direction of the Kensington Kiwanis. It was a big year for Burgard. Finally the great year arrived, we were Seniors. Graduation was not just something to hope for, it was now a possibility. But this year was a sad year for Burgard. We lost many of our finest teachers. Mr. Henderson's untimely death left an almost unfillable gap in our faculty and the retirement of Mr. l-leineke will be felt for many years by the entire school. Mr. Decker, one of the early men of vocational education also hung up his keys for the last time this year and he too will be missed by all. However, youth must be served and so we advance toward our final goal and we now say, We are proud to have been a part of Burgard and proud to be called among her graduates.
