1898 iklcharh if Qlarherrp 1951 September 15th 1951 brought the sad news of the passing on of Richard J Carberry beloved Burgard Automotive Shop Instructor He had been 1ll several months but had xxiitten Mr Kamprath stating his return to his duties would be Octobei lst 1951 Mr Carberry had been an Automotive Shop Instructor for 25 years 21 years at Burgard Vocational High School and foul at Elm Vocational with part of the latter four years at the Boys Continuation School. As a young man he was a racing car enthusiast and piloted racing cars in competition at the Lockport and Batavia racetracks. His hobbies in recent years had been photography and gardening. He made man3 film strips which he had used 's visual aid in is is teaching. Mr. Carberry s elementary education was acquired at Annunciation Paro- chial School. His secondary education was at St. Joseph s Collegiate Institute and the Buffalo Technical High School. He also was a graduate of the Buffalo State Teachers College course for x ocational shop teachers. Prior to becoming a shop teacher he owned his own automobile sdrx ice garage and was the ser- vice manager of the Buffalo Oakland Motor Car Company. Mr. Carberry was married in 1938 to Madeleine Olivia Ball who survives him. Three brothers and two sisters also survive. Richard J. Carberry was a teacher of outstanding ability. His natural Irish wit and humor, his sympathetic approach to the students' problems, his deep understanding of their needs and encouragement made him beloved by the Burgard faculty and the student body.
