Members are drawn from all Ag classes and this year 5 numbered fourteen, including one 1948 graduate. Officers wereg Bur- E ton Jackson, presidentg Gary Vaughn, vice-pres1dentgRoger Harrington, S secretary: Jerry Hoover, treasurerg Junior Wicht, reporter. The Spon- sor was Mfr. Gillingham. Donald Reynolds rented the acreage at A the rear of the school building and planted corn. The proceeds from . the sale were divided equally between him and the PFA Chapter. g Early in September, FFA officers, accompanied by their Sponsor, at- 4 tended an Officers' Training School at Camp Waconda. All FFA members 3 attended the Chicago International Livestock Exposition and also made Q a trip through Sw1ft's Packing Plant. In February, Duane Mechllng 2 and Junior Wicht went to Varna to attend a meeting sponsored by the 2 Ruhm Phosphate Company and learned of their plan to present a Univer- J sity of Illinois scholarship award for the winning essay on Soil Con- 5 servatlon. j E E 4 .1 . It is national ln scooe, and we work together 2 ,E for better and haooier home life. We think that helolng to make hapoy Z f. homes, now and ln the future, is the most lmoortsnt tH1Hg that we S 1 ' can do in s democracy. 5 If g For our chapter of the Future Hcmemakers of America the following of- E gi flcers were elected: Joyce Shofner, presldentg Doris Bell viceeores- 2 3 identg Juanita Jontz, secretsryg Jo Anne Thompson, tressurerg Shirley 3 g Mechllng, reoorterg Helen Erickson, recreation chalrmsng and Wilde 3 tg - Foushee, program chairman. These officers were installed in s candle- 5 :E light ceremony, with the mothers of members end the teachers invited 3 55 guests. Following a business meeting a tee was served. The two club Q lg mothers, Mrs. Shofner and Mrs. Foushee, presided at the table. 3 E 5 E A slumber party was held ln the gymnasium following the Hallows'en 5 E Party in October. The girls tried to sleep on pallets amid cornshocks 3 Q with mice ss unwelcome guests. A midnight snack was enjoyed, as well g Q as many mysterious and mischievous noises. Q Q In December we travelled via bus to Chicago to visit the Museum 2 A? of Science and Industry and to view some model rooms. On Vslent1ne's 2 of Day the members of the F.H.A. entertained their fathers at a 'Daddy- 5 2 Date' party. Two movies were shown, followed by games and refresh- S 5 ments. Some of our members attended the F.H.A. spring rally held at 5 5 Spring Valley early in March. Our social event of that month was a Q Q party at which the F.F.A. members were our guests.
