Text from Pages 1 - 40 of the 1947 volume:

BURBANK JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL BERKELEY, CALIFORNIA OUR HIGH NINE SPIRIT What makes the spirit of a class? Is it the buildings and grounds? The books, the teacher, the principal? Every boy and girl in every class wants that class to be the best in the school. Buildings, grounds, books, teachers, principal all help. But the real spirit of a class is made up of the boys and girls. This High Nine Class has had the real Burbank spirit. You have been very helpful to your school, and we appreciate it. We wish you every success which this fine spirit deserves. Sincerely yours, Bruce L. Zimmerman GOOD LUCK TO YOU It is always sad to say goodbye. You have been so industrious, cooperative, and friendly. I wish you success in your future life. Maintain your exhu- berant enthusiasm, keep your high ideals, and retain your pleasant memories of Burbank. Mrs. Ruth H. Waugh BILL WONG S MESSAGE This year’s Senior Class can look back with pride and satis- faction over the three years spent at Burbank Junior High School, three years spent with the teachers of Burbank preparing for high school. To those teachers we should like to express our warmest thanks and deepest gratitude for their patience with us. Thanks also go to Mrs. Waugh, our counselor, and to Mr. Zimmerman, our principal, for their willingness to help us. After graduation we shall enter an entirely new school, a school that will bewilder us just as Burbank did when we entered three years ago. Our training here has prepared us for what is ahead. We shall all miss the happy days spent at Burbank, but we shall never forget them. Bill Wong SPRING WIZARD STAFF Editor. It seems too difficult and expensive under present prices to publish a Wizard each term. We have tried to make this Wizard belong as much to the Fall Class as it does to the Spring Class. We hope we have succeeded, and appreciate the fine spirit of cooperation this class has shown in working with us. We are glad we cannot now say goodbye to this class. We need this fine spirit of cooperation to help us at Burbank this fall. Sincerely yours, Bruce L. Zimmerman COUNSELOR S MESSAGE To the fall graduating class of 1947 now goes the responsi- bility of leading our Burbank Student Body during the fall semester. Much of the success of the school activities will depend upon you and the kind of leaders you are. May your last term, as High Nines, here at Burbank be one in which you gain much and give much , because only by giving of your time and talents do we gain more for ourselves as well as for our fellow students. I wish you all success in your future endeavors. Sincerely yours, Clifton D. Boyack AL FERREIRA S MESSAGE In a way this is a farewell to the High Nine Class. Though I hate to see them leave, I like to see them go on, and get ahead in Berkeley High. I know that they will keep up Burbank’s good standards. I also know that the incoming High Nines will take over the work and go on where the out-going class leaves off. As student body officers of the fall term, we will do our best to make Burbank a better school by working hard together and sticking to the job.
