,., ..,. . A ---.urn - -X f - ut., W .. N-. . . 1 -..-1 This year, a new system for students to select their classes was put into use, computer registration. Mixed feelings towards this system caused hardship for stu- dents and administrators. The -purpose of registration by computer was to avoid the disorder and confusion of walk-in registra- tion. Administrators considered the computer method as a more convenient arrangement, causing less trou- ble and work for everyone. However, what resulted were longer lines of students for program changes. In fact, the lines doubled - which caused more work for administrators. One student said that he had to change his classes because he was given two classes in the same period. Another student was given Work Experience in be- tween two classes. Furthermore, a number of teachers and students were given the wrong classroom number written on their schedule. Assistant Vice Principal, Gail Cirigliano says, Any time there's something new, it takes a while to get 6 Computer Registration used to it. Maybe within another year, we'll all get used to its assets. Business teacher, Pat Andreoni says that it's worth all the efforts. It avoids placing friends together in the same classroom. They'll come to class with a more positive attitude on learning. Patricia Campos, a senior, thinks that walk-in regis- tration and computer registration problems are about the same. We should have just stayed with the old system. There would still be those problems, but at least there will be less hardshipf, It seems that the students of Burbank High are not yet ready for the computer registration. Students should plan ahead as to what classes they want to avoid too many schedule changes. As for the adminis- trators, they should be extra careful in giving informa- tion to the computer to avoid any errors. It will take a while for both to get use to the computer registration system. Hopefully, in the school years to come, these problems will be eliminated.
