Weekends at home may run the gamut from mowing the lawn in the bright glare of the morning to a backyard barbeque on a soft summer evening. Home life in California includes the same frustrations and ioys that occur in families all over the United States, The maior difference lies in the usually idyllic climate and the fact that family life here penetrates extensively into the out-of-doors. Out-of-doors in California may refer to the primeval mai- esty of the redwoods or to the pert face of a backyard garden pansy. California families are able to enioy the natural beauty of their state in all of nature's fantastic manifestations of her will, The golden sand of the sea shores, the sparkling crispness of a mountain lake, and the silent shifting of desert sand dunes culminate to provide recreation for nearly every in- dividual family's taste.
