The Activities ol Our School The Board ot Education, which consists ot live long- tinie residents of Burbank, supervises the policy ot the school system, The re-elected members are Vifalter S. French, Susan Clundstrom, cincl Gordon V.lVlcCann, Ralph E, Simpson and Fred Johnson are continuing their term of office, As representatives ot the people, they approve all budgets and policies tor the school system. Due to the etiorts ot the Board in estimating the tuture school population, Burbank is one ot the large city school dis- tricts which has maintained tull-day sessions. Leading Burbonlcs active PTA, was Mrs, l-l. D. Gritz- ner, who served as president for both semesters ot this year. The Parent Teachers Association has served the school in many ways. They sold hot dogs at the toofboll games to false money for other proiects. This year they initiated at BHS the All Night Graduation Party in cooperation with the Kiwanis Club. Parents ot each grade level were invited to brui- chesl' at which informal discussions on school cictwiities and problems were held, ln the Spring the PTA, in conjunction with the Girls' League, put on the annual Mother-Daughter Tea. Mr. A. G. Ogborn, Principal Mr. A. G. Ogborn has headed the Burbank High School operation since taking over as principal in i94l. Through his educational aims, he has built up the dignity and respect of the high school. Cosordinating the students, teachers, parents, and the school plant into a happy en- vironment for learning is his difficult and busy job. Recog- nized as one of the outstanding high school principals of Southern California, Mr. Ogborn is also characterized as a leader who commands the devotion, admiration, and re- spect of his friends and associates. Assisting Mr. Ogborn are the two Vice Principals, Mrs. Katherine Dwire and Mr. Edward Bedigan. interests, acti- vities, and problems of girls are the chief concern of Mrs, Dwire, and her office is always open for counseling. She spends many extra hours as advisor of Z Club, Girls' League, and the Scholarship Society. The boys' Vice Principal, Mr. Edward Bedigan, is equally interested in the boys' activities and problems. The duties which occupy him most are the handling of boys' disciplinary cases, counseling, making arrangements for all athletic events, and supervising most school activities. Mr. Theodore Kopp, registrar, serves both Burbank and Burroughs. l-le is responsible for the master schedule of classes and registration of all new students. Our Administrators Direct TAKING TIME out to pose for their picture are Mr. Edward Bedigan, Mrs. Katherine Dwire, and Mr. Theodore Kopp.

Exhibiting all of these qualities plus many more are our instructors at BHS, who work together now to assist us in becoming more worthwhile citizens in tomorrow's world. Back on campus after a year's leave of absence is Mrs. Stephens. sophomore and iunior English teacher, Mrs. Weeks is a US History and Civics instructor. A new teacher, Mrs. Bassham, trains future secretaries in Business Typing. Proving her versatility by teaching both French and Spanish, Mrs. Coke also advises both these clubs. The Photography teacher and Camera Club sponsor is Miss MacDougall. Mr. Leach, World History teacher, is sponsor of a BHS Y group and the Junior Statesmen. Senior English is taught by Miss Weinstoclc, who also advises the Assembly Committee, sponsors the Scholarship Club, and edits Fancies , our senior literary magazine. Also teaching World History is Miss Vaughn, Girls' League Social Committee advisor. Miss Willis was a familiar figure around campus this year as noon supervisor first semester. She teaches sophomore English and advises the Social Committee. Another Girls' League advisor is Mrs. Jacobson, a iun- ior English teacher. Responsible for many earth-shaking experiments within the Science Building is Mr. Fesler, Chemistry and Geometry instructor. Our General Business and Typing teacher is Mr. Rankin. Mr. Turner, Geometry and Algebra teacher, is usually seen on the tennis courts sixth period, coaching his team.
