Presidential Classroom Ken Lashuay was selected to attend the Presidential Classroom for Young Americans in Washington D,C, Se- lection for this award is based on scholarship, involvement in school activities, co-operation, self-disci- pline, and sincerity. The trip is sponsored by N.H.S. Some of the highlights of Ken's trip were visiting the Fairfax Highwat Research Station, the Pentagon, and the Ford Theater. He also met Sena- tor and Mrs. Geo. McGovern, Rep. Bella Abzug, and Sen. Ted Kennedy. John Phillip Sousa Award The John Phillip Sousa Award goes to the top senior musician in the varsity band. This year this award went to Ronda Haggit, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Haggit. Ronda was Ist chair clarinetist and played in solo-ensemble competition at the state level for 4 years. As a senior, Ronda was the class secretary, a member of National Honor Society, and a co-op at Dow.

DAR Good Citizen Mary Juengel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Juengel, was named the D.A.R. Good Citizen this year. Selection for this award in based upon leadership, ser- vice, dependability, and patriotism. Throughout her high school years, Mary was active in band, Pep Club, bowling in- trainurais, GIA. Ay oki Club,, and Na- tional Honor Society. She also graduated in the top 10% of her class. Midland Junior Miss Rhonda Kobel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Kobel, was selected as the Midland Junior Miss this year. Rhonda then ad- vanced to the regional Jr. Miss competi- tion at Fenton and to the state competi- tion at Pontiac. Rhonda's talent for the competition included a film of herself and her horse. Rhonda has been active in bowling intra- murais,1G, A.A.,)-Pep Club, and:cheer- leading. She was also a class officer as a junior. ey,
