CHAMPS AGAIN The Lancer wrestlers were MMB champs for the second year in a row. They had the sec- ond best dual record ever at BC with a fine nine ‘wins and only three losses. This year twice as many grapplers qualified for the state than ever before and there were five conference champs. Roy Stern was voted the most valuable wres- tler. He made it to the semi-finals of state and finished the season with an outstanding TECOLUIOno ls. RIGHT: Jim Keenan works on a takedown of his St. Louis opponent. Keenan won the decision. LANCER THINCLADS WIN 3RD CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP For the first time in the school's history in 1970 Lan- cer track team went undefeated in dual and triangular meets. They were conference champs for the third year in a row and regional champs for the second time, Records were broken in the two mile run, long jump, shot put, pole vault and the high jump. Jim Carroll broke the old record of 10:14 in the two mile and brought it down to 10:00.7. The shot put record was broken several times throughout the year by Rich Chenoweth and Mike Parsons, The final record of 48-8 1 2 was set by Mike Parsons just after Rich Chenoweth broke the old record at the conference meet. The pole vault record was set by Larry Burkett at 12’ 11 , Jess Myers broke the Long jump record with a jump of 20° 11 1 2 and the high jump record with an outstanding jump of 6' 6 1 2 . Jess finished second in the state and was only beaten by one person in the high jump all year. Jess Myers long jumping for the first time in a meet breaks the school record.
