As years go by we’ll look back on this incidence as a time of reckoning. We’ll see ourselves growing, learn- ing, and searching for our place in life. But most of all, we'll see some of our most treasured memories in the making. Some of the things which come to mind first are the basketball games, the tension and excitement of Homecoming, another fabulous Junior-Senior Prom, forming clubs and electing officers, report cards, school pictures which were in color this year, the Hal- loween Carnival, and those endless piles of homework. In presenting this, the 1968 Legend, the Annual Staff offers you as students of Buies Creek High School, its heartiest congratulations for your efforts and its profoundest wishes for your happiness and suc- cess. We sincerely hope that you can find here, in this book of memories, our deepest expression of thanks for the many good times we’ve shared. Editor Carol Parker

Class History As I remember, the years passed by rapidly for the Class of ’68. The first few years were filled with encounters bf new adventure in learning and getting along with each other. Of the graduating class, there were sixteen who’ began together and remained together throughout the twelve years of learning. These faithful ones were: Alex Ennis, Andy Gardner, Jerry Gregory, Rosemary Hall, Lynn Jones, Frankie Lanier, Ann Lasater, Danny Lucas, Carolyn Matthews, Cathy Matthews, Ralph Mitchell, Carol Parker, Darryl Reardon, David Reardon, Sylvia af and Michael Upchurch. In our second year of learning, Connie Upchurch returned to Buies Creek from Dunn, after having left in the first grade. Janet Page became a classmate in the third grade, coming from Lafayette School. In the fourth grade we had several newcomers to our class. They were: Allie Déane ey, Ths from Elizabeth- town, Philip Keyser from Dallas, N. C., Sandra Wilburn from Angier School, and Reba jy from Rose Hill. In the fifth grade Betty Thornton from Plain View School, James Hall from Erwin, and Mike Elliott from Benson joined our growing number. The next few years led us to Junior High where we encountered the puzzling language of French. In the seventh grade L. M. Dixon, Jr. joined us, coming from Bennett, N. iv Following the eighth grade, we graduated into High School. During these ype we 2 made and shared moments of victory, hard work, happiness, and sadness. Joining and helping us in the ninth grade were Pat Bunn from Erwin and Bill Hanes from Elyria, Ohio. In the eleventh grade, three new arrivals became our classmates. They were: Brenda Waters from Windsor, Gerald Turner from Burgaw, and Clint Morgan from Enfield. Eddy McLeod joined us in the twelfth grade after attending tadge one: throtigh ten at Buies Creek and the eleventh grade at CMA in Maxton, N. C. Jia Yes, the years flew by rapidly. Before we knew it, Our senior year was Bop us bringing with it sadness and happiness. And now-as I sit remembering our yesteryears, I-know that each classmate has cherished memories of our years gone by. Historian, Ann Lasater
