Class Stistory One half score and two years ago our forefathers sent out their beloved children to enter the world of education at Buies Creek School. This new frontier of knowledge, at first, appeared bewildering and unfamiliar tosuch young minds. The days of bewilderment and confusion quickly turned into years of fun, mischief, learning, failure and despair, happiness and success. Our young minds and bodies matured and changed. The first few years zoomed by like a rocket to Mars. AS our elementary years evolved into our high school years, many new settlers joined the first pioneers. Our faithful pioneers, who blazed the trail for the newcomers, and stayed to see the last cornerstone laid include: Cecilia Wilkens, Patricia Slaughter, Steve Gregory, Vicky Gaskin, Gail Mabry, Linda Sawyer, Gale Byrd, Elaine Betts, Anna Johnson, Terry Mitchell, Carolyn Johnson, Dorsey Slaughter, Nancy Matthews, Brenda Jarman, Dennis Currin, Sharon McLeod, Billy Dixon, Willie Lawrence, and Larry Ryals. Newcomers were always welcomed and came from far and near. Ann McLeod from Coats was welcomed in the fourth year. Sarah Bouldin from Oxford, and Agnes Savage from Rose Hill entered in the fifth year. Peggy Dennis returned from Beaufort to join the fifth grade. Judy Smith Adcock returned to Buies Creek from Four Oaks in the sixth grade. Also, in the sixth year came Jo Ann Ryals from Plain View, and Brenda Byrd from Angier. In the seventh grade five newcomers joined the hardy band. Brenda Butts from Lillington, Perry Harmon from Germany, Mary Hill from South Boston, Va., and Denny and Benny Lee from Benson entered: Buies Creek School. Dickie Sistrunk came from Wake Forest in the tenth year. In the eleventh year Jackie Turpin from Coats and Uppsie Stewart from Lillington joined the class. Deborah Huggins, the last member of the Class of '67, came in the twelfth year from Nichols, S.C. Our high school yearshave swept by almost as rapidly as the early years. These are the years that are foremost in our memories of the yesteryears. The Freshman year presented another frontier toconquer. We were startled at the new subjects, such as algebra. Our Sopho- more year had its moments to remember also. We had many new experiences in Biology, Geometry, and World History. We played quite a few laughable tricks on our poor teachers, and they played a couple of more serious ones onus. Through laughs and frowns, we called the turning point of our high school years to an end and entered our Junior year. This was surely one of our most unforgettable year of years. Through cooperation and imagination we presented a Junior Senior to top all Junior Seniors. On receiving our class rings, we celebrated a most successful junior year. We suddenly felt very old and wise as we Jooied forward to our new status as ''The Seniors of Buies Creek High School. oo. Our shining hours has finally arrived. Now, the Class of 1967 can truthfully Say, We came, A we learned, and we conquered.’ We shall continue to overcome the obstacles in our ‘paths to the ist future. Our rockets are aimed at the heighth of contentment, which is the goal that each of us most desires. Because of the knowledge and experiences in life that we have gained from the years with our teachers and friends at Buies Creek School, we are better prepared to conquer newfrontiers. For success or failure, we have earned everlasting ties of friendship to strengthen and encourage us in our brightest and our dimmest moments. Mary Hill, Historian
