All ten members have been active in school work and activities, Two newcomers to our class this year are: Betty Ayscue, born in Warrenton, June 18, 1937; and Gaynelle Driver, born in Louisburg, January 25, 1937. Betty attended school in Townsville, Franklinton, Creedmoor, and Wilton, before transferring here this year. She transferred from here to Durham in November, Gaynelle attended school in Youngsville and Bunn before trans- ferring here this year. Peggy Baker was born in Lillington, November 3, 1937, She attended school in Lillington and Coats before joining us in the ninth grade, G, W. Baucom was born in Lillington, April 18, 1936, and attended school in Coats before joining us in the seventh grade. Sherrill Butts, born in Angier, November 13, 1936, attended school in Angier, joining us in the seventh grade. After going to school in Bunnlevel, Weldon, and Lillington, Fred Jones, born January 24, 1936, joined us in the ninth grade, Faye McLeod was born in Angier, January 15, 1936. She attended school in Archie Lodge and Angier, and joined us in the first grade after attending school in Bushy Fork. Senor Class Frophecy Well, I guess it's the gypsy in me - I don't know any other reason why they chose me to foretell the class prophecy. I will now gaze into this crystal ball to see what the future holds for the grand class of 1955, Turn onward, Turn onward, O Time in your flight. Let me see the graduates of '55 Ten years from tonight! Betty Ayscue is now teaching French, but she is still dreaming of the day she will have her own little Frenchmen to teach, Peggy Baker is still undecided what she will do the rest of her life, and at the present is still taking it easy. G. W. Baucom is one of the most successful farmers of our day, I've heard he had to build larger barns this year and he is buying new machinery. Shelby Britt finally won her Johnny, and now has three little Johnnys. Say, look at Ruby Lee Bunn now living in Virginia - - married to a druggist! My, that new filling station that Sherrill Butts is building is really swell. Some people wonder how he does so well, but I would like to know if his conscience hurts him when he sells three quarts of gas for a gallon. Bobby Byrd is now working behind the counter of W. B. Turlington's Hardware-Grocery Store in Buie's Creek, Lower the gangplank, folks, Do you see whom I see? None other than our Larry Ennis who is now in the Air Force. April's issues of Charm really disappeared from the newsstands, but no wonder, Our own Gail Gregory's face smiles prettily on the cover and she's wearing a new Easter bonnet. She really is a lovely model. Martha Gregory won the most blue ribbons at the fair this year. She is a wonderful housekeeper. No wonder her husband is putting on weight - with her doing the cooking. Betty Sue Hardee made the headlines on the sports page when the Buie's Creek Blue Deacons won the pennant, You know she is manager of the team. Her manager hopes she will retire in the future and manage their own five players. Rubelle Harper is now librarian in one of the city schools. She is very efficient and keeps every book in its proper place. I wonder if she keeps the students quiet. Henry Howard is now manager of the Western Auto Store just around the corner of Red Roberson's Gas Station. He can hardly keep enough parts for the hot rods the boys are driving around. He complains he can't sell them any speedometers. I heard that Fred Jones has bought a two hundred acre farm. He also has a new pack of coon hounds, He's still unmarried but, girls, that tall blond fellow is really an attraction. Say, who is that smiling nurse coming out of room 201 in Rex Hospital? Gretchen Matthews, of course. Who wouldn't get sick for her to hold his hand? Take a letter, please, Miss Faye McLeod. She is secretary to the president of the largest bank in Angier, Carroll Rogers in now in Washington. He is taking Kerr Scott's place as U.S. Senator. Buie’s Creek is certainly proud of one of its native sons in such a high place in politics, Rudolph Stewart is doing quite well for himself in his hardware store in Lillington, He says the women don't buy rolling pins any more, but to tell the new brides he has another supply of can openers, If any of you fellas and gals go sailing on the sea of matrimony on your honeymoon, how about dropping in to see Janet Williams in Florida? I understand she has quite a fleet of yachts. Say, who is that going intothe parsonage? It's Gaynelle Driver, wife of the new Baptist minister. She always was a wonderful person. I suppose you wonder what this crystal ball holds for me. My, it looks interesting, but right now, as you can see, I am too busy with the future of my classmates, Ann Weaver Class Prophet : Se 8 : d = ae = —_— 2a S888) 68? eee hm Ci sesso The Last Will and Sestament To Buie's Creek School and to our lower classmates, we leav e the ability to obtain and keep teachers as good as ours, SECTION I Article I, To Mr, Lanier, our principal, we leave our deepest appreciation for his under- standing and sincere guidance, especially all those times we were disobedient.
