CLASS PROPHECY As I glance over the roll of the Buie’s Creek High School Senior Class of 49-50, I am surprised at the progress and success they have accom- plished and realized in only ten years. The first name I see is Eston Betts. After completing a course in radio broadcasting in Chicago, Illinois, he has had a few years experience at WCKB. He is now president of Buie’s Creek own station, WBCB. Sue Byrd has completed her studies at Campbell College. She has been married for four years and has four little Tucks who are making her wish she were single again. Sue Brown, after finishing college where she majored in science and minored in journalism, has completed her nurses’ training at Rex Hos- pital. She is now head surgical nurse at Johns-Hopkins, which was her life ambition. Helen Ennis, I hear, is the most popular telephone operator in Raleigh. Calls keep the line busy asking for dates with that cute little red- headed operator. She has so many boy-friends she just can’t decide which to marry. Barbara Johnson, after finishing a beauty course at Raleigh, has open- ed her own beauty shop. Her hair styling is the favorite of all Raleigh women. Mazelle Mangum, after going to Campbell for two years, has finally married A. J. and settled down to married life. Her two little Punies are just like their old man, so mean that they drive her wild. A. J. Stephenson, alias ““Puny,’”’ has completed his law studies at Har- vard, and after receiving great fame as a lawyer, is the youngest D. A. that North Carolina has ever had. His two little Punies follow him every- where he goes and call him Puny too. Rosalie Stone is still unable to decide which man she loves most, Eirk or Bobby. She has worked at several jobs, but has never decided what she really wants to do. Billy Tally, after completing his studies in dentistry at Emory Uni- versity, has established his dental practice in Atlanta, Ga. He seems to be enjoying married life with Carol Johnson and the two little Parham Jrs. are just as energetic as he used to be. Betty Walton is well known in Lillington and surrounding communi- ties for her attractive and original hair styling. She is the owner and operator of Lillington’s most modern and best known beauty shop. She has been Mrs. Alfred Goins for several years and is the proud mother of three little papooses. Fleming Walker has completed two years at Campbell College where he was well-known for his activity in sports, especially baseball and basketball. He is now holding the position of center-field for the Yan- kees. He still seems to have that certain little something that makes him so attractive to women. Cecil Waddell, after finishing his studies at Campbell where he was well-known as a star basketball player, has been coach at Wake Forest | and is now coach at Carolina. I hear he is thinking of going into pro- fessional ball coaching. |
