THE PRINCIPAL'S CABINET The principal's cabinet comes under the executive branch of our school government. The purpose of this group is to help create good will and to promote co-operation between the students and the administration of Buhl High School. The members of the cabinet keep Mr. Gledhill informed of the needs and wants of students. The principal's cabinet has helped to make our school a better school scholastically and otherwise for education and enjoyment. The cabinet is composed of the principal, the student body officers, and the four class presidents. SENATE The Senate, center of our student government system, consists of three members from each class, who hold office for the entire school year. It is presided over by the student body vice-president, with added aid from the student body president and secretary. The Senate is to co-operate with the faculty and help maintain a democratic form of govern- ment. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES At the beginning of each year some person is chosen from each homeroom to represent his class in the House of Representatives. To these meetings are carried the wishes and problems of fellow classmates. At these meetings the representatives discuss and try to solve these problems. FRESHMAN C LASS The Freshman Class has been as busy as bees this year learning new subjects and be- coming accustomed to the many changes from Junior High. Starting off the year's activi- ties was the Harvest Festival, with Judv Baggett as the class princess. Through the year members of the class were very active in sports and other activities. The Junior Varsity Cheerleaders, Jimmie Harding, Judy Love, Claudia Hugentobler, and Sherry McBratney, were members of the Freshman Class. The Freshman Class as one big group would like to thank all their teachers who have been so sympathetic and understanding with them. They are looking forward joyfully to being: the Sophomores of 15159-1960. 78 7 R sq 1013 a 'il ff? gf' I If-F .K 4, 1 '27 i Q-we 7 : ??f7'f3?. 1' , X Y 53 Q 70 Adams, Dale Akland, Jerry Ambrose, Sally Atkins, Jerry Aufderheide, Marilyn Babington, David Baggett, Judy Baggs, Sherry Bartlett, Erwin Baty, Jean Beach, Geraldine Bell, Carl Bencken, Carolyn Bonar, Robert Brittain, Noel Brown, Patricia Christensen, Helen Claiborne, Lee Clifford, Phil Conner, Larry Cox, Joyce Dalos, Judy Dana, Duane Davis, Susan Eggleston, Marlene Eis, Paul Eldredge, Gary Eriksen, Eileen Fairchild, Fred Fairchild, Rosalie Fiscus, Cleo Ford, Rozelle Fuher, Sherry Giles, Neal Gorman, Karen Haggard, Joe Hanshew, Frank Hanshew, Kathleen Harding, Jimmie Harkins, Cecil Harp, Charlotte Hatfield, Billy Herzinger, Bonnie Hicks, Kathy Hitchcock, Nelda Hopwood, Eugene Hugentobler, Claudia Hunt, Gene Jardine, Dick Jones, Dennis Kendrick, David Kral, Norma Lallir-is, John Leitch, Billy Lewis, Craig Love, Judy Machacek, Jerry Machacek, Sharon Machacek, Wanda Matlock, Mike McBratney, Sherry McCormick, Connie Middleton, Bert Miller, Wade Moore, Gary Muse, Larry Nipper, Janet Oppliger, Gary Owens, Sue Pape, Jerilyn X I . Each student in the class paid seventy-five cents dues which will be kept in the treasury until next year when they will be the sponsors of the big Junior Prom. Nadine Bennett represented this class as princess at the Harvest Festival. In response to the cheerleaders' attempt to get the students to participate in backing their team at basket- ball games, the Sophomore Class began wearing white shirts and sitting in their own group. This, as well as the many other activities of this up-and-coming class, set a pattern for the rest of the school to follow. 34 F '51- lgj r 1 7 f 1 gf ffwff w 4,4 , W 5 ' -' I' ' 1 X Z, , ig I 4' W , , , f 4 ,,, , 2 1 5 Z 6, 7, f 1 fi ,:,f,,. fe , . , , , ,A , Q V 11549 . JUNIOR CLASS During the past two years, the Juniors have not had much real responsibility. This year the Harvest Festival activities--selecting JoAnn Schroeder as princess and sponsoring the dance--were their first trial. Black Magic , the theme of the dance, was illustrated by the presence of a huge black spider in the center of the floorg a spider-web ceiling creat- ed a clever effect. The highlight of the year was the Junior Prom. As their days as Juniors are nearing their end, the Juniors look forward to attaining the title of Seniors next year, and to becoming graduates of 1960. They have met the problems and difficulties of their Junior year with the realization that these problems are just the begin ning of the responsibilities which they are to face in the coming years of their lives. Losing only two games--one to the league champions, the Minico Spartans, and one to the hard-to-beat Jerome Tigers--the team had great hopes of taking the championship. The team played heads-up football with the Burley Bobcats who were also contending for the championship. J. V. FOOTBALL The Junior Varsity team, led by Sophomores, had a few rough breaks this year. They fought their hardest to gain experience for next year and came out with a 2-5 record. We congratulate them on their efforts and look forward toa great year for them next year. I bear the torch that enlighrens the world, fires the imagination of man and feeds the flames of genius. I give wings to dreams and might to brawn and brain. From out the silent shadows ofthe past I come, wearing the scars of struggle and the stripes of soil, but bearing in triumph the wisdom of all the ages. Man, because of me, holds dominion over earth, air and sea, it is for him I leash the lightning, plumb the deep and shackle the waves of ether. I am the parent of progress, the creator of culture and the molder of destiny. Phi- losophy, science and art are my handy works. I banish ignorance, discourage vice, disarm anarchy. Thus have I become treedom's citadel, the arm of democracy, the hope of youth, the pride ot adolescence, the ioy of age. Fortunate the nations and happy the homes that welcome me. The school is my workshop, here I stir ambitions, stimulate ideals, forge the keys that open the door to opportunity, the master of human destiny. I am the source of inspiration, the aid of aspiration, for I am Irresistible Power. J. T. Thompson 2 4 ' w ,.
