TRUSTY JIM A large audience was present in the high school auditorium on the night of April 19, 1938, to witness the annual senior class play. The characters of Trusty Jim , a comedy-drama in three acts, were very well enacted by the following cast: Helen Miller, Dwight Crofford. Wilda Meyer, Dorothy Hyde, Merlin Hays, Lucille Morgan, Marjorie Tucker, Charles Read, Gerald Hyde, and Bob Carlson. The play was directed by William Shively. Marion Kircher and Margaret Hamilton were prompters and Francis Cobb was business manager. TONS OF TROUBLE 'iTons of Trouble , a three-act comedy, was presented by the senior class April 13, 1939. The plot of this delightful comedy centered around the young married couple, Albert, enacted by James Clifford and Veronica Hale, portrayed by Elouise Watt. This couple found themselves in an embarrassing position when they re- ceived word from Uncle Jeremiah, Bill Miller, that he was coming to visit their farm, which they had never possessed. John White, a friend, characterized by Trusten Probasco, told wealthy Aunt Mattie. Ruth Grodeon, that he had been married for several years. Upon the arrival of Aunt Mattie the only solution was for John to lend his farm to Albert in return for which Veronica was to pose as his wife during Aunt Mattie's visit. The situation became more complicated when two unexpected persons arrived. The visitors were Hope Marks, Lorna Messley, and Jyeslyn Jessup, Myna Hatfield. a sophisticated actress, who ruined the whole set-up by telling everything. There seemed to be no solution to this complicated situation until Hope's father, Mason Marks. enacted by Benny McElroy, arrived and brought peace to Restful Roost. Veronica Hale, a young wife . BASKETBALL Huhl High School's basketball team, coached by Floyd Luft, made a very enviable record. They were defeated only tour times during the season and twice during both the district and state tourneys. Out of the twenty-six games played they won twenty and lost six. Each game Buhl averaged thirty points, a total of seyen hundred-eighty points, while their opponents averaged twenty-three and one-tenth points a game, a total of fiye hundred-ninety-one. This made a difference of nearly two hundred points. The outstanding games of the district tournament were the 'three played hy Twin Falls and Buhl, traditional sports enemies. The first 'two ot' these games were finished in overtime periods, a victory going to each team. In the concluding game I-luhl trimmed the Twin Falls crew with a doubled score of thirty-two to sixteen. The strength of the team is shown by the tact that Buhl was defeated in the first game by a margin ot' only two points by the team that won the state championship title. This defeat placed the Buhl team in the con- solation bracket where they won all games and received the trophy. This was the first state basketball award to be Won by any Buhl team.
