In January the F.F.A. livestock team went to Ogden, Vtah, and brought back the first-place cup. The seed judging team won seventh place out of thirty-seven teams represented. ul

Wlationail Horton .Societe Buhl High School Chapter of Lambda Sigma was one ot' the first organizations of its kind to receive a charter in Idaho. The purpose of National Honor Society is to promote in the student higher ideals of' scholarship, leadership, character and service. Membership consists of not more than fifteen per cent oi' the uppei third of the senior class and not more than five per cent of the upper third of the junior class. 'The 'Totem The Totem, Huhl High School newspaper, under the direction ol' Miss Lois Kendall, was published bi-weekly by the Totem stafi' which was :om- posed of members of the journalism class. As journalism is a one-semester subject, only two papers were pub- lished the first semester. They were published by a volunteer staff with Leila Maye Smith as editor. Outstanding features were the humorous department by Ted Homling: and Keyhole Kenny, scandal niongrer. Foy Blackburn. Other members of the staff were Avis Dennis. Hurt Parkin- son. Laurene Fairall, Florian Hunt, Wanda Skinner, Norman Hyder. VVilliam Roberts, Jim Shields, Marjory Tucker, and Helen Rathburn. After the journalism class was organized, the twenty-five members followed a new policy.

Barbara Pritchard participated with The Least of These, dramatic: Florian llunt gave Widows Mitesf' humorous: and Donovan Duncan l'62lKi I Am Innocent ot' This Blood, oratorical. Florian Hunt received a rating of excellent and was entitled to enter the State Festival in Twin Falls. The 1937 District Declamatory Festival was held in lluhl April 2 and 23. Six Class A schools participated the lirst day and fourteen Vlass Il schools were entered in the second day's events. Buhl had contestants in the oratorical. dramatic, and humorous di- visions. Pete Boyd with the oration The Big Parade was judged superior: Florian Hunt with the dramatic cutting Mary Stuart rated excellent: and Paul Kliss in humorous Jimmy Jones Studies Geography was given a rating of excellent. These contestants were privileged to enter the State Festival in Twin Falls. Debate This year Buhl High School has completed one of its most successful seasons in debate. The team was composed of Norman Hyder and William Roberts, affirmative: and Eugene Luntey and Russel Smalley, negative. Mr. Fred Livesay was the coach. The Buhl team placed third in the district festival at Twin Falls April first, and second in the district National Forensic League tourna- ment at Nampa on April third.
