Wlationail Horton .Societe Buhl High School Chapter of Lambda Sigma was one ot' the first organizations of its kind to receive a charter in Idaho. The purpose of National Honor Society is to promote in the student higher ideals of' scholarship, leadership, character and service. Membership consists of not more than fifteen per cent oi' the uppei third of the senior class and not more than five per cent of the upper third of the junior class. 'The 'Totem The Totem, Huhl High School newspaper, under the direction ol' Miss Lois Kendall, was published bi-weekly by the Totem stafi' which was :om- posed of members of the journalism class. As journalism is a one-semester subject, only two papers were pub- lished the first semester. They were published by a volunteer staff with Leila Maye Smith as editor. Outstanding features were the humorous department by Ted Homling: and Keyhole Kenny, scandal niongrer. Foy Blackburn. Other members of the staff were Avis Dennis. Hurt Parkin- son. Laurene Fairall, Florian Hunt, Wanda Skinner, Norman Hyder. VVilliam Roberts, Jim Shields, Marjory Tucker, and Helen Rathburn. After the journalism class was organized, the twenty-five members followed a new policy.
