Schoenborn Assistant in Extension Department CLASSES SENICDIQS Senior Activities To frame and adopt a constitution was one of the first acts of the Senior class. Committee chair' men were appointed and the work for graduation was begun. In spite of the busy year ahead, the Seniors took time to welcome the incoming class and provided games for their amusement. This gave them the jump on the other classes as far as the fairer Freshmen were concerned. An innovation which apparently has proved itself worthy of being made permanent was the Class President's Council, originated by the Senior class. The dignified Seniors, with great hopes for the future, came to the rescue of the unemployed and contributed the sweaters, coats, suits, shoes and neckties, which have been seen in the halls during the past four years, to the Mayor's Committee-it being agreed that every new teacher must have a new wardrobe. Combining with the junior Degree Class the annual ball was made the social event of the year. The talent and originality, so prominent in this class, brought forth many new and novel ideas for MovingfUp Day and Class Day. 38 HENDERSON SCHREIER PROZELLER Fourth Year Class AUDREY HENDERSON EDWARD SCHREIER . The year's activities were started with a Freshmanfjunior Picnic in Delaware Park where the two classes became acquainted. The vocal supremacy of the college is an honor belonging to this class. At the lnterclass Sing this fact was proved when they won the famous banner. The annual junior Prom was discontinued this year, the class combining with the Seniors to hold the JuniorfSenior Ball. The Junior Sister movement was continued and extended in its scope. It is the hope of the class that this work will be continued in the future. They have spent the year in the proper collegiate daze, arousing themselves only to annoy the Freshmen during Hazing Week, and to throw a few pounds of Hour in the direction of the Green boys during that spectacular war, The Tournament of Floursf' Then a party and dance was given for the newfcomers at the end of Freshmen Days, and after that week the Sophs soon settled to slumber silently. In October they sang-in fact they actually competed in the Interclass Sing. There was also a class party in October, a Halloween Party. CThe cider was terrible but the music was goodj November was a great month. The Sophomores opened two eyes long enough to vote Socialist. In December they hung their stockings up. In January they took their stockings down. In February they gave the stockings to the Mayor's Committee on unemployment. just about that time they set out to win the Interclass Cheeringfwould have done it too if they could have secured a cheer' leader and if their siren would have refrained from breaking during the Hrst quarter. March, coming in like a 1amb,was the signal to settle down again. April brought forth the annual Sweater Dance. May found them peacefully enjoying their active career. And now June brings forth groans as the class doffs the orange cap which indicates the Hnish of Sophomore Slumbers. In addition to the above activities the Sophomores came to school regularly and also donated a penny a day. X ! V Freshman Activities During the Fall of 1932 the Freshman Class gave all other classes ample opportunity to act as hosts, being entertained at parties, picnics and the like. A little later in the semester the Sophomores took quite an interest in this group and did everything possible to provide for their amusement. Their efforts however, were not appreciated by the class. The climax to this spirit of devotion came during a Flour Battle which was won decisively by the Freshmen. The Class of '36 entered wholefheartedly into the activities of the College and was represented throughout the year by a large percent of the class. The judges rated them as second best at the Interclass Sing, a position gained by lusty voices and a great deal of pep. This year for the first time State was represented by a Freshman Basketball Team. This group organized and worked together to form what will be a fine Varsity squad in the next few years. 98 , ,V -, 1 , ,,.:,,,3x,Q,,M ,V .. , .,..:., ., . . . qw., f A 1. 3 ' -'.:4.+i-f-2 Tri arm ,.,,, A ' i. . ,i ' . According to the constitution the purpose of this organization is to promote sportsmanship and a close spirit of friendliness among the students of the collegeg to promote, foster, manage, and direct athletic activities for both men and Women in the college. With this purpose in mind, the council has endeavored to promote a more thorough athletic program for the college year, stressing especially the Intramural Sports. It is thought that through a more extensive intramural program more students will be' come interested and take an actual part in the sports. It is hoped that through a more thorough sports program in which every member of the college may participate, a more genuine spirit of cofoperation and general interest will be evidenced on our campus. -G. The dummies were scattered all over the room, The task of assembling them was coming too soon. The staff had looked forward to this day with dread, Now visions of yearbooks just danced through their heads. Associate editors, there with their staffs Had just 'wakened themselves from a long winter's nap, When in the next room there arose such a clatter We sprang from our daze to see what was the matter. Away to the editor's office we flew, ' Helpers, typists, associates, too. The room was all cluttered with paper and ink, And there in the cornerMoh, what do you think- The shock nearly floored us, we hate to admit, But there was our editor throwing a fit! With his hands flying wildly, his hair torn to shreds, We knew that harsh words would soon fall on our heads. More rapid than eagles his curses they came, And he bellowed, and shouted, and called us by name. What's wrong with this blank staff? just lazy, I guess, Well, you sure have done plenty to make this a mess. You've got to get going-get busy, don't stall, Now get away, get to work, dash away all! So hurriedly back to our office we flew Helpers, typists, associates, too. We began listing Seniors, and writing wise cracks, When in blew the editor hot on our tracks. He stood there in shirt sleeves, sweat poured from his brow We're going to finish this thing here and now. His face was as pale as a kettle of mush, We don't know what happened to his famous blush. He looked worn and weak, and was thin as a rail, A year ago he had been hearty and hale. He sank to a chair and went straight to his work And scribbled and scribbled, then turned with a jerk, And gathering up papers, and pictures, and pens He left us without a request for amends. He reeled through the door-oh dear! would he make ite- And we heard him exclaimful guess I can't take it. 166 an ff- '35 L fhzgcfbgsg Q U gil G+ fre Q K Mises xvQEKi YMT13 WW, md 65, - W 'O' R ,Mi ' 'M R xg N wywffg .55 , mu L X S Lniimlmsi iirwq Q. i, wt B i 3 fiingmv iii r - X2 My OQKBQ f Q N.
