SEMINARIA 1950 B11lh1d sa1d be would have g1VCD her h1s 1dent111c1t1on br lcelet but he had lost It last summer at the beach Whenever she heard The 'Twelfth Street Rag It sent sh1vers up and down her SPIHC because that was the record they had been playmg when B111 h ld xsked her to go ste ldy Sue looked down It her wr1st Even though B111 had not g1ven her h1s bracelet she had gxven 111111 hers Its xery absence re m1nded her of B111 Well th1s was not Hn1sh1ng the short story The days wore on and at last sprmg and the annu 11 Sprlng Ball c ame Ab1ga11 s father celebrated her recox ery by g1v1ng her a be 1ut1ful pmk gown As she dressed for the ball 1t seemed somethxng was m1ss1ng She hxd guned back the W61ght she had lost the color was back 1n her cheeks but her eyes llcked sparkle Sever 11 of the young men met her as she came IDCO the ball w1th her father but she re fused to dance All evemng she stayed at the s1de of the room Sometunes the the stra1ns of the 11st waltz began one of the s1de French doors opened and 1 dash1ng young man entered H1s eyes fell at once upon Ab1ga1l She saw h1m enter and ran across the room Wordlessly they melted 1nto each other s arms and danced the waltz As the IHUSIC ended they walked together out 1nto the garden The soft breeze perfumed by del1cate scent of sprmg flowers pllyfully fluttered the leaves They walked down a carpet of soft gr iss to a se If bes1de a qu1et pool They stopped and the young man took Ab1ga1l IHKO h1S arms softly wh1sper1ng Thank you my dearest for wa1t1ng for me and bel1ev1ng ID me Now I am able to tell you my story Here he 1nterrupted h1s tale long enough to place a k1ss on the soft cheek of Ab1ga1l They sat down upon the seat md he told her that h1s father was a k1ng of a small country far away When he was very young h1s father s land had been 1nvaded by a band of heathen warr1ors The country had been conquered and the k1ng earned away as a capt1ve He and h1s mother had fled to a mountam v11lage He h1d sworn then that when he was twenty one he would dr1ve out the con querors and save hlS father He had just accomphshed that task The young PYIUCC s11pped to h1s knees before the beaut1ful Ab1ga1l She blushed ever so s11ght1y as he began And now my love because you have been true to me I am able to expose my true 1dent1ty 1 am Pr1nce Albert My dearest my heart s own my lovely w1ll you take my hand m marr1age7 My father IS old and 18 1 I . 3 Q 5 , . . .. 1 .
