MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRINCIPAL: The past year, being dominated by numerous plans for reformation of the American Educational System, due to the ever increasing technological advances made by man, you, the students of Buffalo have added your chapter in the History of the Buffalo School, by recording herein your activities and achievements. It is well that you have maintained a good balance between your social and educational pursuits during the past school year. Many joys, intermingled with some sorrows, have given us fruitful experiences for our lives--past, present, and future. I commend you for your abilities and the personal satisfactions given to me, as your teacher and Principal! For many of you, the true realization of your responsibilities to yourself, your community, and your country, has started to take deep root. To make the best use of the free educational opportunities that are available in the present age cannot be over-emphasized. In the years to be, evidence of your ability to assume positions of leadership and authority, both in Buffalo and elsewhere in our state and nation, leads me to believe we should have an alumni reunion fifteen years hence to justify my faith in you! CLASS POEM Let us admit it fairly as high school Seniors should: We’ve had no end of lessons, and they've done us no end of good. We entered as timid Freshmen, we leave as graduates bold. And we find it hard to realize the knowledge our young heads hold. We've had our foolish notions knocked higher than Franklin’s kite; Our minds have been made over, and we know it served us right. We’ve spent four years in labor hard to prove the fact once more. That life is quite confused, and two and two are seldom four. We're crammed to the brim with learning, and we must turn it to use, And if one of us is a failure, he hasn’t a single excuse. The more we work and the less we talk the better results we shall get. For we’ve had four years of training; it may make us successes yet. INTRODUCTION School life, my dear Seniors, lies along five, well beaten paths, Primary, Elementary, Junior Hi, Senior and College. You, my classmates of this class of Buffalo High School are closing just behind you the Senior gate, and are pressing on to that larger, stronger one that marks the entrance to college or other kinds of work and all that they offer. We are standing just behind that gate you have so thoughtlessly closed, and while our hearts may be a little sad at the thought of the brief separation, our hands are waving you a fond good-bye and wishing you Godspeed, a happy journey and a triumphal entry into the coveted land of the future. Before we turn the day over to the Senior Class, with its program of wisdom and song, as the representative of the underclassmen, I wish to propose this toast; Here’s to this Class of 1959 Here’s a hope for sincere endeavor, For lives of promise. For joy forever! Here’s that this class may ever be true. Loyal and steadfast in all that they do Here's that, whatever the future may bring May sunshine abound and happiness spring Because of this class of 1959.
