The 1979-1980 Bison ARCHIVE Dallas County R-l Schools Buffalo, Missouri 65622 WHA T IS AN ARCHIVE? In case you hadn't noticed, the theme and title of this yearbook is Archive. Archive is a strange word that isn't used very often in our everyday conversation. The next few pages will try to explain what we feel an Ar- chive is. Before we go into any detailed explanations, we thought we might show you just how many people REALLY know what an Archive is. We asked numerous bodies that were wandering the campus of BHS and here's what we heard: It's what that guy says on American Top 40. Something you cuddle and hug and kiss all over. My mother refused to tell me. Something you wouldn't take home to meet your mom. A fatal disease you get from eating vegetables. It's a new rock band. It's some kind of spice. It's like a cave only pronounced different. It's the golden arches at McDonalds. 2 It's being cross-eyed forever. It's having limp wrists permanently stuck. Getting your fingers stuck in your mouth and having an urge to stretch. It's something we dissected in biology. It's the new kind of gum that never pops. Oops! I guess it does. Well, that wasn't quite what we had in mind. Maybe, if you turn the page, you'll get the answer to that oh so famous question: Hey, what IS an Archive, anyway? 3 AN ARCHIVE IS Mr. Daniel Webster said an archive is a place where public records, documents, etc, are kept. But, that was his opinion! Perhaps you wonder what this has to do with the Buffalo yearbook. Well . . . we'll tell you. It has everything to do with this book because it is ex- actly what its name implies. It is an archive. It is a collection of pictures, facts, and general data, all recorded for future reference. Our trained group of linguistic experts decided to add to Mr. Websters' definition. Their addition consisted of these six P's. Personalities Patterns Places Pandamonium Participation Passing-On 4 5 PLA CES Every person, whether they realized it or not had a place . It could have been a special place to be alone, or a place where there were people. KBFL was a new looking place this year. It added a new exterior face with an electric sign. The school assemblies were always places full of people and excitement. The classroom was a dreaded place for some, and for others a place to congregate with friends. Outside the classrooms though, were the most en- joyable places-where we often found our freedom. Sometimes they were not in school at all. Wherever your place was, it had a certain signifi- cance to you. You might have gone to a place be- cause it held memories, or possibly because you knew that if you went there, you would have fun. Whatever the case, we all had our place. 6 PA TTERNS Getting up in the morning. Getting dressed. Riding a bus or driving to school. Going to classes and waiting for bells. Leaving the school. They began, they ended, then they began again. That was how the days went by. Each of us had a routine, a place to be and a time to be there. But, all too soon these routine days have come to an end. Often we dreaded those daily patterns we had to go through. Our lives were kept in pattern by the ringing of bells. So, my friends, as the tears of farewell replace the laughter and smiles, remember this pattern we leave behind. Another pattern will take its place in 1981. 8 As you look back on the school year 1979-1980, what is outstanding in your mind? Whether it be the places you have gone or the fun things you have done, the personalities are what made it as memorable as it is. Of the many people you met in the past year, some were serious and others were not so se- rious. But without the individuality of each student, the past year at BHS would not have been as great as it was. PERSONALITIES PA NDA MON IUM (Panic) The tardy bell rang five minutes ago. A test today? Mr. Willis wants to see ME? Where is my English book? My homework? Well, it's in my English book. These are just a few of the panic stricken statements we made to our- selves and to each other through-out the year. Here we try to return to you some of the pandamonium brought on during our times to- gether. 12 PARTICIPATION What is participation? Partici- pation is to take part, engage in, join in, be a participant, per- form, play a part, partake, share, form a part of. What did we participate in? Depending on the individual. Participation could range from clubs to sports, classrooms to assemblies, friendships to dances, and life. 14 Who participated? Those of the student body, teachers and adminis- trators who felt the need to become involved. Why did we participate? We wanted to be a part of things, to meet people, to pass time, and to create memories. Where did we partici- pate? Actually, wherever you were, you were par- ticipating. Whether it be in a club, sport, etc. or just life itself. 15 PASSING-ON Minute by minute, as the hours turn to days, We all must tarry and go our separate ways. We shield each other from the pain and hurt we see. For we must stay together from now to eternity. The places we may go and the people we shall see. They reflect upon us all, each individually. We share each others dreams, and we share each others time. We escape the Pandamonium for the peace that we might find. As we look back on the past, then to the future now ahead, We look to each other and the paths that we have led. Pass-on your joys, pass-on your fears, And all the knowledge you've learned over the years. For these are the greatest that we can give, Our joy for love and our will to live. b Christy Beltz The BUFFALO GALS Most people think it's easy to be a Buffalo Gal; but there's a lot more to it. Like being at school at 7:00 in the morning to get ready for football games; and marching your legs off for countless parades; and withstanding temperature levels of 90° and above, and 40° and below. Well, it isn't that easy! The Buffalo Gal's Drum and Bugle Corp is a pre- cision group of 37 high school females. This year the Gals marched at a variety of different events. They always added a certain festivity and pride to home football and basketball games. Away from home, they showed their pride and spirit even more. At the be- ginning of the year, they marched at the S.M.S.U. Homecoming where they brought home first out of six other drum corps. They also brought home the most spirited award out of the thirty-one marching units there. The Gals also marched at the Neewollah Parade in Independence, Kansas, The School of the Ozarks Parade, and many other Christmas and spring parades. The Gals are under the supervision of Brian Elhard. Pictured at the right is Head Majorette Joan Farrell. 18 Beth Spurrier-Secretary Beth Cantlon-President Karen Shantz—Vice-President The Gals in action at a home game Cheryl Knowles Bugle Captain Drill Captains: Cheryl Knowles, Kimi Caswell, Beth Spurrier, Sheri Phillips, and Karen Shantz Carrie Lilley Drum Captain 19 MUSIC CLUB Music Club had 68 members this year. Thirteen of these were chosen for District Honors Choir. Melinda Kay was chosen for State Honors Choir. Several of the senior members made a banner that was used in the pictures below and at the right and was part of their entry in the Football Homecoming parade last fall. Twelve members were chosen by a national orga- nization to be an honored member of Who's Who in Music. The people chosen for this had to be either a junior or senior. The money gained from selling M M's went toward buying medals, letters, and certifi- cates of accomplishment awarded to outstanding members at the annual Music Club banquet at the end of the school year. ART CLUB The purpose of the Buffalo High School Art Club is to serve the school and the community through the media of their artistic abilities. This year the art club was bigger than ever; consisting of 51 members. The club accomplished many things this year. The first major en- deavor of the club was the construction of a float for the football festival parade in which they received first place honors. A new tradition for the club this year was the purchasing of T-shirts. The design on the T-shirt front was by Lonnie Glor who is the club sponsor. On Octo- ber 31st, at 5 o'clock a.m., a bus load of sleeping Art Clubers left for Kansas City. While in Kansas City, they toured Hallmark Cards and the Nelson Art Gallery. Between tours was some free time in which they visited Crown Center. Art Club designed and decorated the stage for the 1979-1980 carnival entitled The Gift of the Nile Besides decorating the stage, they also decorated many people at the carnival at King Tut's Tatoo Shop. At Christmas, they painted the windows around town and at school to add holiday spirit. Future plans at time of publication include painting a graphic design in the field house lobby. The officers are Yvonne Cummings; Pres., Lisa Paro, Vice-pres., Cindi Hawkins; Sec- Treas., Shannon Murphy, Re- porter. Drama Club performed in many extracurricular activities this year DRAMA CLUB 27 ANNUAL STAFF As everyone knows Annual Staff is the group that puts our annual together. But there's another side to the staff besides the serious one that makes our annual. There's the Wild and Crazy side. You know the side you see in the assembly they do at the beginning of the year. But then again they do have to be serious now and then. They do have deadlines to meet and are often found working late many nights after school to get our annual together. Sure lots of people think Annual Staff is an easy class, but think about it this way: You have to work till you're almost worked out just so everyone will get their yearbook. The staff is not made up of anyone who just wants to sign up for it. The people who make up the staff are picked according to their qualifications. Although most people think it's easy, it's not! So when you start looking through your annual just think of all the people that made it for you and realize how hard they worked for the student body of 1979-80. In the left hand corner are the newest members of the club, the Freshmen. Last but not least we have the Seniors. These are the people who have cheered our Bisons on from field goal to field goal, from basket to basket, giving them en- couragement and hope to prove that a victory didn't al- ways mean winning. 31 FHA The FHA has been very active this 1979-80 year The Back to School Dance was a big fund raiser with about $600. The yearly initiation is always fun to watch but is a different situation for the poor souls who have to put on the program . The Regional meeting was held at Kickapoo High School in Springfield with 40 schools participat- ing. Karen Shantz was regional secre- tary. In October, Barnwarming was held with FFA entertaining FHA. Also in this month they entered a float at the Homecoming Parade and placed 2nd. In November adoption of an elderly person was the community project. Vocational week was in February where they pro- moted FHA through radio, posters, and attended a local church in the commu- nity. Because of snow, Heartthrob was held in March this time with FHA en- tertaining FFA. In April a special project was held for the March of Dimes Seniors and Juniors went on a field trip to the Cerebral Palsy Center and Cox Medical Center in March. The highlight of the year is the FHA ban- quet with the installation of officers. Last but certainly not least is the Se- nior Party where goodbyes are said to the departing Seniors. Here the students learn farming skills they'll need later on in life. Things such as livestock, dairy cattle, field crops, and soil. The highlight of the year is the slave auction. The stu- dents are sold to area farm- ers and assigned various odd jobs such as building fences, hauling hay, and cleaning out unpleasant smelling places. Another favorite time is barnwarming. Freshman Juniors Seniors 35 Sophomores STU-CO Student Council is a group made up of officers and representatives elected from each high school class. The council was led by three main officers elected by the entire student body. The officers of Stu- Co were: Donna Nyberg-President, Susan Freeman-Vice-President, and Jeanie Freeman—Secretary. Stu-Co's activities all started with Football Festival. Students dressed in different fantasies. There was also a parade which most of the clubs participated in. The council prepared the Christmas assembly in December and founded the first Faculty Choir. They also planned the Basketball Homecoming which ended with a dance from a live band. They would like to thank Mr Willis and the administration. Jeanie Freeman, Donna Nyberg, and Susan Freeman 36 SENIOR The grandest of all of the years of high school... the year that one becomes a senior. Football festival week was entitled Football Festival Fantasy and each day represented a different fantasy. Hollywood Fantasy Day saw people dressing as their favorite stars such as Buckwheat, The Pink Pan- ther, and Elvis. On Clone Fantasy Day, friends came dressed as clones. People came dressed in aluminum foil and green make-up for Future Fantasy Day. School Spirit Fantasy Day was for wearing red, white, and black. On Friday, a pep rally and later a parade were held to help boost school spirit. Coronation occurred im- mediately before the game on Friday night. Trisha Saunders was crowned 1979 Football Festival Queen. BHS rallied to- gether many times for many different reasons. One of which, was the senior sponsored Blood Mobile Drive where 72 pints of precious BHS students' and faculties' blood was given. At an- other time a helicopter dropped out of the sky to give us a close-up tour. Many times there were parties whether expected or unexpected. As well as all of these times, there were pep assemblies where everyone got together to cheer-on school spirit in skits or other assorted entertainment. All of these could be entitled Good Times, and are recorded as such in this Archive. 81 GIFT OF THE NILE CARNIVAL THE ROYAL COURT IN ITS ENTIRETY The theme for this years successful carnival was Gift of the Nile ' The elaborately decorated stage was a re- sult of a tremendous load of work done by Mr. Lonnie Glor and his faithful art students. It enhanced the held house and brought us all a step closer to Egypt. In our traditional royalty, it was the vigorous seniors who ruled in the senior high. Joanne Ratcliffe was crowned queen and Gary Simmons was declared king. In the junior high, it was the 7th grade who reigned with Michelle Martin as queen and Chad Lacey as the ruling king. CON- GRATULATIONS! 82 CARNIVAL CANDIDATES JUNIORS Tammy Peterson Robbie Robison SOPHOMORES Teresa Rountree Troy Polston FRESHMAN Stephanie Parish Greg Morgans EIGHTH GRADE Cindy Lacey Scott LaCrue Despite all the fun and games, there always is someone who has to do the dirty work. Below are Jeanie Craighead and Willa Phillips trying to total all receipts. They came to a grand total of $6,960.29. At the right, faculty help to make carnival a big success. The D.A. Mallory's energetic 3rd graders did a fine job of enter- taining us. They put the all-American JERK, Steve Martin, to shame by their astounding performance of King Tut. 83 The great masses of people made a great turnout and participated in the many activities that helped make this the most successful car- nival we have ever had. Activities such as bi- ngo, cake walks, basketball throw, photogra- phy booth and many more were attractions which raised money. We also had our own hi- larious clowns which sold balloons for a little profit. Our terrific carnival was due to the large response of help we received by all who pitched in. 84 LONG LANE CARNIVAL Nursery Rhymes was the theme of the carnival this year. The sixth grade class reigned over this intriguing event with their king Jerry Owens and their queen Janette Mathews. The other can didates were: 5th grade, Jerry Strick land and Melissa Wilson; 4th grade, Larry Doorman and Michelle Poyser; 3rd grade, Shawn Smith and Jennifer Hicks; 2nd grade, Tommy Huntley and Kim Shireman; 1st grade, Dale Wim- berly and Janelle Flemming; Kindergar ten, Russel Gann and Aaron Scurlock; flower girl, Carla Huntley and crown bearer, John Imes. We would like to thank everyone who participated in making this one of the best carnivals ever. Congratulations to all of the can- didates and especially to the sixth grade. Sixth Second Fourth Third First Kindergarten Attendants 85 CHRISTMAS FESTIVITIES Christmas Ckris-mas) A Feast on December 25 that commemorates the birth of Christ and is usually observed as a legal holiday. This is the definition of Christmas ac- cording to Daniel Webster. Christmas in America is a very special and sacred holiday to most every family. It should always be observed in its truest sense. At B.H.S. the stu- dents try to do just that. We annually hold a Christmas as- sembly which included, this year, singing from the Music Club and a performance from the Concert Band. It also in- cluded dramatical readings from Karen Montgomery and Julie Blue, who represented the Speech and Drama Club. Also held, was the Buffalo Christmas Parade in which B.H.S. students played a large part. As well as the other festivities, B.H.S. elects each year, a girl who will hold the title of Miss Merry Christmas. The 1979-1980 Miss Merry Christmas was a Sophomore, Miss Beth Atteberry, daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Atteberry. Runners-up were Sherry Atteberry—Senior attendant, Vicki Sharp—Junior attendant, Regina Branch—Freshman attendant. B.H.S. holds an annual Christmas dance, as well. Miss Merry Christmas Beth Atteberry Senior Candidate Sherry Atteberry Junior Candidate Vickie Sharp Freshman Candidate Regina Branch 86 87 “A CHRISTMAS CAROL” by Charles Dickens On December 4 and 11, the Drama Club at BHS presented A Christmas Carol ' by Charles Dick- ens. The adaptation was made by director, Terry West. The crowd size was disappointing because the play did not receive the school and community support enjoyed by drama groups in other area schools, however, the play was well received and enjoyed, according to comments from those who at- tended, said Mr. West. The cast was as follows-SCROOGE, John Nelson; CRATCHIT, Richard Moore, MRS. CRATCH1T, Joanie Farell; MARTHA, Cindi Hawkins; TINY TIM, Jeff Griffith; GHOST OF XMAS PAST, Jeannie Freeman; GHOST OF XMAS PRESENT, Yvonne Cummings; GHOST OF XMAS FU- TURE, Laura Ritter; GHOST, Jesse Nelson; ABIGALE, Lisa Paro, NARRATOR, Suzyn Kelsch. 88 89 The narrator presents the introduction. DONNA NYBERG CHEERLEADERS JOLENE NIXON TRISH SAUNDERS CONNIE SHEWMAKER JACKIE ANDREWS KIMI CASWELL r x There were wild rumors going around in April, 1979 about there being a sev- enth Varsity cheerleader. Unlike most rumors, this one was true. When Sep- tember rolled around and football sea- son started, everyone realized that there really was an extra body jumping around and making lots of noise. But this additional being wasn't dressed in the usual cheerleading garb consisting of sweater, skirt, and the other acces- sories. No-o-o! Jackie Andrews was wearing a bison suit! The mascot idea was new at BHS this year, but will probably become a tradition in years to come. The rookies on the Varsity squad were Teresa Garrison, Sr.; Jackie Andrews, Jr.; Connie Shewmaker, Jr.; and Kimi Caswell, Soph. This was the second year for Trish Saunders, Sr. and Jolene Nixon, Jr. Donna Nyberg, Sr., has cheered for the boy's varsity teams for 3 years. She has served as captain for 2 of these years. There will be at least 3 open spots on Varsity in 1980-81 since Donna, Trish, and Teresa are graduating. There are many talented prospects from the ju- nior, sophomore, and freshman classes keeping a hopeful eye on those open- ings, but the seniors will be missed. JUNIOR VARSITY Though all of the Jr. Varsity Cheerleaders this year were newcomers to this privilege, they definitely proved them- selves through their hard work, energy, and spirit. The theme of this years festival was The Main Event. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday were designated as school spirit days. Wednesday was the hat vs. socks day, Thursday Americans vs. Iranians, and Friday Bisons vs. Tigers. The stage was decorated by the Buffalo Art Club. Last years festival queen, Tammy Franklin was present to honor the 1980 queen. Tammy was escorted by Juniors: Pat Blair and Greg Hicks. This years queen was escorted by Earl Wallace. At first, there was no sign of snow or a harsh winter of any kind and everyone thought they were going to be deprived of their expected out-of-school snow days. But then came Friday, Feb. 8, 1980 when everyone got shocked with a small blizzard that hit the Ozarks. Many students' wishes came true—no school, at last! When the students finally re- turned to school, it was truly a winter won- derland for many. Flying snowballs were ev- erywhere to be found. Many times there were narrow escapes as the snowball meant for you hit the wall behind you as you ducked just in time. These days are remembered as such with pictures in the Archive. 96 The pre-season two-a-day drills proved two things to head coach Warren Kennedy: the Bison football hopefuls were enthusiastic and willing to work. Since 1973, this was the first time two-a-day drills were held due to facility usage conflicts. Turnout for the drills was good. The extra practice and conditioning were hoped to re- duce injuries and raise the tempo of the team. The foot- ball coaching staff underwent some changes for this year. Rookie coaches this year were George Blowers and Dale Mills. Returnees were Warren Kennedy and Rick Henderson. The Bison boys played the Jackets fairly even during the first half. A touchdown with just over two minutes left to play in the first half put Lebanon on the board. During the third period the Bison momentum slowed. At the end of that period, the score had risen to 19-0, but the Bisons did not give up. They played tough during the fourth period but Lebanon was able to forge ahead and score another ten points making the score 29-0. Game 2 Game 2 was played against the Camdenton Lakers. The Bisons were soon overpowered and at the end of the first quarter, the Lakers led by a score of 23-0. At the end of the first half, the score was 30-0. The Bisons kept up the pride in their name and during the fourth quarter of the game, the first points of the season were scored by senior tailback, Gilbert Carl on a one yard touchdown run and a two point conversion. In the course of the game, Buffalo lost four fumbles and were penal- ized 74 yards causing setbacks. 37-9 was the final tally. 99 Football 79-80 Season Game 3 In the COC opener for Buffalo, the Bisons played the Ozark Tigers. During this game, the Bison defense was not as alert as in the two previous games. Tigers scored on a two yard run in the second period and later scored twice during the third quarter and picked up the 3 extra point kicks making the score 21-0. As it happens, that was also the final score of the game. During the first half, the Bisons got as far as the Tiger 10-yard line, but the Tiger defense held our offense scoreless. Game 4 This game was against Rogersville. The first touch- down of the evening was during the first quarter. During the third quarter, the score reached 34-0, Buffalo's favor. At the end of the third, all of the Bison starters were out of the game. The second teams did not ease up a bit. During the fourth quarter, they rounded out the score to 40-0. The victory leveled the Buffalo mark in COC play to 1-1. It was an effort by every member of the team and they saw their hard work pay off. They felt the sweet taste of a victory, at last. 100 Football 79-80 Season Game 5 Game 6 In this game, we played EIDorado Springs. The Bison offense did not play too well and it caused the defense some problems. Buffalo's defensive team held up their end by containing EIDorado Springs' scoring to two touchdowns. The final score of the ball game was 14-0. This year has been considered a rebuilding year, but Buffalo gridders have and will continue to play a tough game of football. After this game, a new look was given to ends and tackles, and a shift was to be made offen- sively in an attempt to gain speed. Buffalo fought conference power, Marshfield. Last year Marshfield beat us by a score of 47-0. This year was a different story. During the second period was the only score of the game on a 61 yard Marshfield run and point-after making the score 7-0. The defense played an outstanding game with hitting like they haven't done in a long time. Offense also played a fine game. There were several times when they came close to scoring but could not seem to get it across the line. 101 Football 79-80 Season Game 7 Game 8 This game was a special game. The reason for this is that it was the Football Festival fought against Willard. During the first half of the ball game was when all of the scoring took place. Willard gained 21 points, Buffalo 0. The second half was a defensive standoff during which neither team scored. The Bisons played good ball be- tween the 20 yard lines, but inside the 20, they seemed to lose something and were not able to carry the ball over the line even though Willard gave the Bisons sev- eral chances. On the road again after homecoming defeat, the Bisons traveled to Republic. Republic was a larger and stronger team, but the Bisons played even until half way through the second quarter. At that time, a Tiger put them on the board. Following the touchdown, Bison momentum dropped and Republic's score rose. Another Republic touchdown moved the score to 14-0 at halftime. During the second half of the game, Republic scored three more times bringing the score to 35-0. The Bisons dropped to 1-7 and in COC play to 1-4. 102 Football 79-80 Season Game 9 Game 10 This battle was fought against the Bolivar Liberators. Bisons gave Bolivar's larger, faster teammates a good defensive game but were not able to score. The first touchdown was accomplished during the first quarter on a 57 yard run down the sideline. The Bisons then forged on to the Bolivar 27 yard line. 7-0 was the halftime score. In the third quarter Bisons intercepted a Bolivar pass. But during the fourth quarter another Bolivar touchdown was completed making the final score 14-0. Undefeated COC power, Branson Pirates, were the overpowering rivals of the Bisons in the final game of the season. The scoring of the game was for Branson. The score was 13-0 at the half and the final tally was 26-0. This defeat set the Bison COC standing at 1-6 and 1-9 overall. Bisons ended the season with several in- juries, but none of them were serious. Throughout the season, the Bisons played hard. 103 Basketball 1979-80 Season BASKETBALL You're on the court, the ball is thrown to you. You race down-court with the enemy hot on your trail. The basket is getting closer now. You jump up, as far as the muscles in your legs will al- low, reaching toward that mighty net. As you jump through the air, you feel a jab of pain as the opponent fouls you. Nevertheless, you glide the basketball neatly through the net. A whistle is blown calling the foul made. Now you have the opportu- nity to get two more shots at the free-throw line. During this time your opponent is foaming at the mouth won- dering how he can stop these mighty Bisons. The ball is given to you. You relax, look at the basket and mentally calculate the distance to be thrown. You push the ball gently in the air while all is still. SWISH! It's in, and again the crowd yells for more. Now the second try. With the same skill used as before, once again the ball is sailing through the air. This time however it circles the rim while the crowd holds their breath. Silence. Then suddenly a cry rings out. Ah, you've made it again. Good job you say to yourself, good job. Basketball is a sport, Most everyone would agree. But to some, it's a lot more. 104 Basketball 1979-80 Season VARSITY BASKETBALL Coach Scott Smith, Sam Dryer, Earl Wallace, Greg Hicks, Rex Clinkenbeard, Robbie Robinson, Greg Morris, Coach Marty Garrison. Along with Varsity they put forth an effort that exceeded past years. Determination, willpower and the drive to do the best they could, led to a good ball team. Our everloving seniors, to be leaving our squad this year, are: Dennis Highfill, Sam Dryer, Earl Wallace, and Lance Mills. The effort they had put forth, the examples of great ballplayers they have shown themselves to be, and the goals they have main- tained helped keep other spirits high. Looking up to the senior basketball players, one may have learned a lot. We will miss them terrible, but will always cherish the times they spent with us and the memories they have placed in our Archive. Winning isn't just how many points you have scored, it is knowing how to win. A good loser makes you a winner. Win or lose, price is the key to happy memories, and memories are stored for a life-time in our Archive. 109 Volleyball 1979 Season Volleyball We dig VOLLEYBALL! The Varsity Volleyball Team. When the girls were not playing they were practicing. Even though they didn't win their first game they came back to win many more through the year. The 1978-80 school board members were Loren Dryer, Ed Garrison, Lewis Hill, Charles Moore, Harold Morgans, and Scott Nixon. This past year was filled with deci- sions that had to be made. It was also a year of rising prices. Fuel was one of the main obstacles for our school board. From the school year 1978-79 to this year, the price of gasoline doubled. Also, in the area of fuel, the heating of buildings was a point well considered. And what about faculty? There is always a necessity for teachers to instruct Dal- las County students, And last, but not least, there are the students. Our school system is rapidly growing, and there must be enough space to accomodate this growth. Thus, the question of new buildings and bond issues are brought forth. We appreciate the hard work, dedica- tion, and thought that these men put into their work. SCHOOL 11A D MINISTRA TORS Mr. Willis—High School Principal, has been at Buffalo for 10 years.
