■V W 'i Study Hall and Library Vocational Agriculture Louisburg Long Lane Tj Buffalo Owen Neill L. V. Clark O. A. Griffin D. A. Mallory R. L. Whited Ishmael McDaniel Murrel Indermuehle In a democratic society a tremendous contribution is made by commissions, coun- cils, committees, and boards serving various governmental functions. These men and women serve without pay and often with much personal sacrifice. Probably most important of all among these commissions, boards, etc. are the thousands of Boards of Education throughout the land and the men and women who render service on them. We, the students of the Dallas County R-I Schools pay a special tribute to the School Board pictured here and to those who preceded them down through the years, who have worked unselfishly to give us our fine education program. - 5 - The Love of Books, the Golden Key That Opens the Enchanted Door. - Andrew Lang Eight years ago the Enchanted Door was opened to the Buffalo Schools by a Magic Carpet on Wheels. ” Mr. Frank Glenn made this journey into the past possible. Four thousand years of wonder and human progress were revealed to our minds and hearts by this wonderful book collection. Since that day Mr. Glenn has become a part of our school and community. May we adopt his love for good books and feel the same desire to preserve the best in liter- ature, art, music, and the finer things of life. With great love, gratitude and pride in our hearts, we of the Buffalo Schools pay tribute to a great man — book dealer, collector, world traveler, book lover and a most generous benefactor. Therefore, to Mr. Frank Glenn we proudly dedicate this book. - 6 - A dminis tra tion A utographs D. A. Mallory, Superintendent Governor Hodges of North Carolina recently said, We Americans take too many things for granted — including freedom, private enterprise and educational opportunities. Is it possible that the United States may have to lose some of these precious things before it learns to appreciate them? Let's wake up and take a good look at ourselves as well as the world around us. Whether or not the question raised by Governor Hodges should be answered in the negative or affirmative is a matter of individual opinion. However, if we as students, are not taking advantage of every opportunity — and they are numerous indeed, — to prepare for and contribute to the great future that appears to lie just ahead, we are certainly passing up the greatest opportunity any Sincerely, youth ever enjoyed. Ethel Williams Secretary for Mr. Mallory Willa Anderson Assistant to Miss Williams Dillard A. Mallory Seated at his desk in the upstairs office is Mr. Dick Simpson, high school principal. Here are the teachers who helped make the year enjoyable as well as profitable. Along with their duties, they always find time to give help and guidance. We wish to express our appreciation to the class sponsors who gave freely of their time and effort. The plays, magazine sale, class parties, the banquet, commencement, and other endless activities kept them busy. We thank our teachers for a wonderful year.
