nt 5 NWS' F The chief aim of education is to teach men how to manage their lives. lt is to put them in possession of such resources as vvill enable them to maintain a mastery over the many problems of lite. What are the qualities that go into the making of a desirable lite? No two people would give exactly the same answer to this question, but l think there would be pretty gene-ral agreement on the following: intellectual achievement and intellectual integrity, professional and technical competence in some one Held, the ability to appreciate art in at least one of its classic forms, kindliness, sympathy, and sociability, good manners, reverence and loyalty to moral ideals in the true Christian sense. Q The varied activities ot the College, both curricular and extra-curricular, give each student the opportunity to attain these qualities l sincerely hope that each one ot you has made the most ot this opportunity.
