WHICH MEANING FITS YOU? lt isn't often that one word in the English language can have so many different meanings for so many different people. The word Homecoming fits this description, because to each of us it has its own special meaning. To the student Homecoming means the construction of a float, the crowning ofa queen, the playing ofa football game on a crisp autumn night, and that special date at the Home- coming Ball. To the faculty the word brings mixed emotions. ln the preparation of Homecoming activi- ties many a well laid lesson plan is interrupted. But when the end product is on display, there isn't a teacher in the crowd that isn't rewarded by the thought of knowing his interrupted class sessions contributed to this colorful event. To the parents Homecoming brings the ioy of seeing their daughter brimming over with ex- citement following that special invitation to the dance, or it may bring from their son a request to use the family car complete with funds to cover the event. Turn the word around and you have its meaning for the alumni . . . a time for coming home. lt is a time to renew old friendships and to linger a moment in the past. It is a time to once again stand when the school song is played. . . which meaning fits you? James Leach eg? ' .Q 1-1 b. ,Av ' 1 yx - - 'H ,,. .
