A little after eight o'clock every morning, after the Pledge of Allegiance, the Lord's Prayer and the announce- ments, classes begin. If you're down in shop, young men will be working in drafting or with various pieces of machinery. In the home economics room yoimg women will be making cakes, laying patterns or learning how to be future homemakers. In the commercial rooms students are learning to type, to take dictation, and to keep an accurate set of records. The band members are tuning up their instruments and choir members are beginning to hum in tune with the pitch pipe. The hall monitors are on duty. The office staff is alert to tardy students. Mr. Blue and Mr. Blenkhorn are wan- dering the halls to be sure that Buena Vista High School is running smoothly. The library is open and at various times teeming with students doing re- search work or nosing around for new reading material. A few students with hall passes stop to admire case dis- plays and then continue to their desti- nations. They may have anappointment with Mrs. Thering or Mr. Pelkki, counselors, to discuss problems or future job opportunities. They may be seeking a teacher for extra help in classwork. The student's trek to a corner room will bring results. This is their school and they keep it well, use facilities freely and benefit from it in their effort to learn.
