Chess Team Captures Second This year BP boasted one of the most talented chess teams in years. The guidance of Mr. Stanley Tinkle combined with the brilliant play of indi- vidual members helped the team place second in Orange County. Talented strategists such as Senior Bill Hebert, Sophomores Andrew Kuli- kauskus and Ed Motley as well as Freshmen Joe Hanley, Dave Duncan and David Henderson excelled at this game which requires foresight and quick mental reflexes. The chess team compiled a record of six wins and one loss during its two- month long competition. The team ' s top members also placed well in the Western Scholastic Chess Invitationals. American Open, and the National Chess Day Tournament. Said proud Advisor Mr. Tinkle, This is one of the best teams we ' ve had in years. 1 think it ' s the start of at least four good years.

Interact Enjoys Profitable Year The Diabetes Foundation benefited greatly from the diligent efforts of the 1979-80 Interact Club. Although they had recruiting problems, they managed to enlist a few new members. Through the year, they raised funds to give to charity by organizing a Silverado booth and holding a Bean-in-the-Jar contest. Led by President Larry Wheaton, Vice President Alana Peliquen, Secre- tary Linda Franklin, Treasurer Rhonda Jenkins, and Historian Jill Holt, the In- teract Club had a successful year. I feel we ' re closer together than most clubs, stated Vice President Alana Peliquen. Everyone gets along well with all the others and they ' re all hard-working. We had a sensational group this year, added Advisor Mr. Saul Schacter. They raised and contributed quite a bit. It was a sensational year!
