Beginning the i955 campaign in a short preview tiff, B.H.S. was edged by a huge Fostoria team by the score of 6-O. In the first regular game of the season the Redmen rolled to an easy victory over Tiffin Calvert lf?-O. On the following Friday the visiting Bucyrus gridders were bounced by speedy Bellevue on a water soaked field 12-6. ln the first home game of the season a highly spirited Redmen eleven bumped Tiffin Columbian 20-13. The B.H.S. gridders im- proved their record to a 3 and l mark by down- ing a bigger Norwalk l4-6. The following week the Gallon Tigers humiliated the visiting Redman before a capacity Homecoming crowd by a score of 33-6. Traveling to Willard B.H.S. bounced back by trimming the Flashes to the tune of 25-O. Return- ing home Bucyrus was outclassed by state ranked Upper Sandusky before a Homecoming crowd of more than 3000 by a score of 34-l3. In the final league contest the Redmen were downed by a back-breaking Shelby passing attack which brought them a 4l-O victory over the visiting Bucyrians. The Bucyrus football team closed its i955 season by shading a scrappy Crestline in its annual Dad's Nite game by a score of 20-l3. The red and white uniforms of the Senior Band shone brightly in the band- room one morning late this May, as the members prepared for the long march to and from the Oakwood'Cemetery in the Memorial Day parade. Two rather unwilling seniors, resting in a corner, were discussing the other activities of the year. These included the early-morning summer practices in preparation for the football shows at each game, the very successful Tag Day, held to raise funds for new uniforms, the appreciation concert following the football season, the Christmas Party sponsored by the Band Parent's and the Annual Band Formal which were held in December. The New Year brought new experience as they traveled to Willard and to Charlotte, Michigan, for exchange concerts, then to Upper Sandusky for the N. O. L. Band Festival. 72 BAD L. Crum, C. Hines, B. Another event of the year was the traditional Spring Concert honoring the seniors and the presentation of the Arion Foundation Award to the oustanding graduate. The Band Banquet, also an annual event, concluded the concert season. The officers, Carol Kiess, president, Jerry Gundrum, vice-president, Sandra Caldwell, Secretary, and Ronald Radler, treasurer, struck the downbeat for a very active organization. The tempo was kept alive very competently by Mr. J. Richard Simcox, the advisor and director. A sharp whistle resounded and the seniors rose slowly and moved in forma- tion into the heat of the May sun, but somehow it didn't seem nearly so difficult as it had in previous years. 73 '!
