The Pep Band deserves much credit for pepping up the students before football and basketball games This year, the band really got down to work. Under the leadership of their president, Dick Ross, and adviser, Mr. Barrett, the boys displayed signs on the sidewalks of Bucyrus. This work lasted for only a few weeks. The purpose of this club is to encourage school spirit in the minds of the citizens of Bucyrus as well as the students. Their social work within the school consisted of a small pep assembly skit and the sponsoring of a dance following the Findlay game. Although this organization might not be called the most active of its kind, its members, Dick Ross, Hen- neth Fleiff, Walter Michael, Stan Kemery, Bob Frazee, Bill Beale, Bob Mitchell, Dick Oborn, Bill Foulk, and Gene Souders, did their best to uphold the school spirit. Student Council The Student Council of Bucyrus High School has helped to make a successful year of the 1940-1941 term. Ways of bettering or helping our school were discussed at the meetings which were held the second and fourth Tuesday of every month. The president, Rita Schuler presided at the meeting and in her absence the vice-president, Nolan Carson had charge of the discussion. Other officers were secretary, Mary Alice Reinhard and treasurer, Margaret Ahl. Mr. Gearhart was the very able adviser who helped whenever he was needed. One of the first events sponsored by the group was a magazine drive. The money received from this was used to purchase an amplifier suitable for auditorium use. To help insure the safety of students as they went home from school at noon and in the evening the Stu dent Council helped to sponsor the student police system and Boy Scouts were chosen to do this work The last events of the spring were the Student Council dance and the potluck for the members of the organ ization The group was made up of the presidents of each home room in Senior and Junior High School The mem bers were Dorothy I-'egley Betty McPeak Rlta Schuler Mary Alice Reinhard James Anslow Bill Rinker Billy Beal Donald Welty Richard Oborn Ruth Beall Lois Ann Rockwell Stella Davis Jeannette Schuler Omar Cox Robert Zeigler Leland Orewiler Carl Durr Fred Smith Blanche Osborn Margaret Ahl Patricia Topp r Syl via Kress Elizabeth Shea Carol Bryer Harry Carver Raymond Pfleiderer Robert Kennedy and Darrell Rupe Mary Alice Reinhard ss Q, I 1- IA.
