U 00 Q GOLDEN RULE HATCHERY Senior Hi-Y The purpose of the Hi-Y is to create, maintain, and extend throughout the school and community high standards of Christian character. The formal beginning of this year's activities was the introduction services in which the new Junior mem- bers were introduced to the Club, but the less formal inception was the much feared initiation which came the following week, These affairs formed a bond of friendship between the old and new members. These five committees: Service and social welfare, educational, devotional, program and social were composed of the fifty-six junior and senior members. The duties of these various committees were to prepare the programs for our meetings. Some of the programs which remain in the memory of the club members are as follows: The two potluck suppers at which a number of hungry fellows got together, the report by our able president, Charles Ross, who attended the State Hi-Y convention at Youngstown and the talk on State and Na- tional Banking Associations which was presented by Mr, Cook, president of the Second National Bank. A splendid talk was delivered by Mr, Baer on How to Study. A joint meeting with the G. R. and Junior Hi-Y was held at the High School Auditorium. At this meeting a speech on Citizenship was given by Mr. Scan- lon, prosecuting attorney for Crawford County. After this speech the meeting adjourned and resumed itself in the form of dancing at the Y. M. C. A, A showing of colored pictures taken by Dr, Hauschild on his trip to Cuba by way of Key West was very interesting. A talk given by Doctor Kiess on Social Hygiene was educational in itself. The annual banquet at the end of the year completed the activities. These men to whom we wish to extend our thanks for their willing and able assistance were Mr. Haga- man, Mr, Winters and Mr. Orwick. Special recognition should be given to Mr. Hagaman who has been a father to the club. The twelve girl boosters are chosen each spring by the eight graduating seniors. Eight juniors and four sophomores are elected into the club at this time. This year the girls tried to live up to their motto, A Booster Never Refuses, and succeeded to the extent of decorating at all football and basketball games, ushering whenever asked, selling season tickets, and buy- ing the High School a gift with the money earned during the year. The meetings, held at a member's home on the third Tuesday of every month, were very informal, and many a lively discussion took place. After the business meetings, either games were played or Miss Dennis gave instructions on bridge playing to the members. The annual hayride was held in the fall, with both boys and girls, but instead of ending up at someone's house tor refreshments, the wagon, as a surprise, arrived at Aumiller Park where weiners, buns, onions, doughnuts, cider, and everything anyone might wish, awaited it. The girls, who met the requirements of scholarship, character, and activity were Martha Wyer, president to whom belonged the pleasure of conducting the business meetins, and Lucile Carlisle, who took minutes and care of the money. Gladys Gallinger, Betty Knecht, Martha Ann Lown, Mary Pettit, Ruth Schieber, Dorotha Stuckert, Betty Carter, Dorothy Fegley, .lane Loughley and Rita Schuler were the other wearers of the white sweater and emblem, and new bright red skirt, LIU-Hp CU,-Ifgfff' Boys Booster Cluq The purpose of the Boys Booster Club is to encourage all Bucyrus High School activities especially the sports This year the club carried on a fall campaign during which the members painted signs on the streets painted signs for the halls and sponsored pep assemblies This year the members were entitled to wear the new emblem an Indian head with B H S Boosters printed across the bottom This year the club was comparatively small having only fourteen members The club had Willis Hubble for president Fred Christman for secretary and Mike Wentz for treasurer During the fall pep campaign several stunts were pulled Before the Shelby football game the Booster Club sponsored a snake parade This was led by the pep band The student body paraded to Lane Street field where a large bonfire had been built to burn Shelby in efigy Each week of a home game new signs were put in the halls These were red paint on white paper and bore such statements as Go Varsity G and Beat St Mary s Each week of a home game a new coat of paint was put on the downtown pep signs The Booster Club also sponsored a dance after the Galion basketball game and used the profit to clear most of the club expenses The Booster Club has always tried and will always try to keep B H S activities in the limelight and to make the student body an enthusiastic one Chaflfs Ro s ! , I V 4 , , r -F . , . . Its membership is com- posed of all girls taking Vocational Home Economics and is under the able guidance of Miss Stockdale. The purpose ot the organization is to stimulate interest in Home Economics both at school and at home, and to place special emphasis on home project work. For good work and recognized effort, four successive degrees are given throughout the period of membership, During the past year the majority of the Freshmen girls received the first degree. Among the sophomores, a smaller proportion received the second. Fun, as well as work, is part of the year's program. A Christmas party, potluck, waist dance, sandwich sale, ice cream sale, and picnics are part of the year's entertainment. Officers of the past year have been: president, Hzrtha Stevenson, vice-president, Marion King, secretary, Helen Rorick, and treasurer, Naomi Hnecht. All have done creditable work. The first year has been a valuable one in experience, training, and, above all, fun. With this as back- ground, we are looking forward to much more in the future. lfrlwz fs0l'I.!'lf. Sr'z'rr'fa1'y.
