GIRL RESERVE CLUB Chief Pilot Florence Kiess has admirably conduct-' ed us through another year of Girl Reserve activity. As president of our organization, she has been assisted in carrying out a new project by the other officers, namely, Nida Mae Holcombe, vice president, Margaret Foltz, sec- retary, Velma Wert, treasurer, Eleanor McMichael, pro- gram chairman, Anna Elizabeth Kantzer, social chair- man, and Esther Bieber, service chairman. Our advis- ers, Miss Kathryn Meck, Miss Mary Porter, Miss Helen Gooding, Miss Evelyn Schieber, Mrs. C. L. Kantzer, Mrs. H. E. Kiess, and Mrs. L. Haigh were invaluable in their assistance. l Our theme for the year in general meetings was avia- tion. Each meeting was planned to illustrate some phase of this subject, such as Gaining Speed , Masters of the Air , etc. The new project was the introduction of the hobby group system. The one hundred and forty members of the club followed their own inclination as to which of the -meg PAGE 22 ilgsm- several groups they wished to join. These groups includ- ed sports, dramatics, handicraft, music, and literature. Early in the year the cabinet of our club was invited to a friendship dinner given by the Girl Reserve cabinet of Mansfield high school. Ideas were gleaned in both directions for future use. Following this very excellent example our cabinet entertained at a dinner the cabinets of Mansfield, Galion, and Crestline Girl Reserve clubs. It was held on a regular meeting night sothat the visi- tors might attend and, incidently, take part in the pro- gram. This was very appropriately called The Pilots Pow-Wow. Another new item was introduced into this year's pro- gram. On April 17th the club had a Sweetheart banquet, modeled, perhaps, after the Sweetheart banquets made famous by the Hi-Y. Other special meetings included the Dads' meeting, Mothers' meeting, Alumni meeting and the joint meeting with the Hi-Y. As the saying goes, 'LA good time was had by all. -Margaret Foltz '32
