This program enables students to attend classes in the mornings and be trained in occupations of their choice in the afternoons. Students enrolled in this program have many and varied interests such as secre- tarial, accounting, banking, small engine repair, oil burner installation and service, carpentry, and so forth. Mr. Frank A. Moore was hired as the Co- operative Vocational Education Coordina- tor and has placed over twenty-tTve stu- dents in Bucksport 0nd Eltsworth. Each student is thus enabled to get oddi- tionol training outside of the school but will still receive academic credits for this training. The local business community has re- ceived this program with enthusiasm and well over twenty students are employed in training in the greater Bucksport area. The basic aim of the program is to provide training to high school students while they are actually earning and working in the community. It has been proven in the State Mr. Arthur Webb Mathematics Physics Yearbook Business Advisor of Maine thot badly needed technicians become available to local businessmen as a result of co-op training. The Co-op Ed. Program is open to all stu- dents wishing to apply. A course of inv school instruction is handled by the coor- dinotor. An effort is made to provide infor- mation concerning the problems involved with working and earning a living in the business community. Cooperatives Vocational Education Pro- grams ore federally financed with the lo- cal school district contributing on 0 per- centage basis.
