This would have : been her senior year there. She hopes to go on to college in Athens next year and possibly teach English Litera- ture. Helen, 17, is the eldest child in her family. She has two brothers and a sister. Her host family has been Mr. and Mrs. John Hurley. We have en- joyed having Helen as a part of B.H.S. and wish her all success in the future!!! 38 CLASS COLORS CLASS FLOWER Navy Blue and Wedgewood Blue Carnation C LASS MOTTO Always look forward to what we shall be; not backward to What we have been. CLASS ODE Chorus: The time has come for us to move ahead the time to give the world our best. Today as we plea for peace and for love we want to change the world. We do what we can but we don't do our best. We must strive for better things to come. Now as we look to the day yet ahead, we wonder just what what we can do. We ask ourselves if we'll fail. But we know that we'll not fail this time . There is a time for war and for peace. There is a time for hate. There is a time to be born and to die. There is a time to weep. We've seen the war and the death and the hate . We've seen the bad times you know. But we'll see the time for love and for peace for that's what we'll do in our time. STUDEN T COUNCIL A N EW CONSTITUTION PRESIDENT The mainifunction of the president of the Senate is to serve as moderator at. senate meetings. She also serves as an advisor to the tribune. d TRIBUNE The tribune has veto power over the two houses of the council. He is the official representative of the student body at all school functions and a liaison agent between the students and the adminis- tration. The new consti- tution was written primar- ily by our tribune, Scott Baxter, who has served the council for four years. CHAIRMAN The main function of the chairman of the House is to serve as moderator at House meetings. He also serves as an advisor to the tribune. SENATE Bills passed by the HOU SE Representation in the House is different from the Senate. The House con- sists of four elected repre- sentatives and the vice president of each class. The Senate consists of one representative from each school organization. Council must be passed by both the House and the Senate and may be pro- posed by either house. C.C.R. The Court of Consti- tutional Review is sepa- rated from the business of the Council. It is made up of five students chosen by the House and Senate. These students are not members of the Council and judge only matters of constitutional concern. 60 THE COUNCIL Holly Lash I L : Danny Coombs uulxu .unt Scott Baxter 8. Simpson, S. Glidden, D.
