A study of the classical humanities gives thc hackgronnd of Latin and Creek thought to thc student. 'l'ln'ough thc influence of Dr. Miller, who has done extensive rcscarch on Greek ideas and methods in the lihraries of Europe, thc student is presented with thc intcrcsting hasics of pre-Sm cratic philosophy, the philosophy of Plato and Aristollc, and relationship hclwccn Grcck scicncc and philosophy. The inllucncc ol Latin and Crcck on inodcrn cnllurcs is also studied. By studying Latin and Crcck, thc classical languages, an understanding and hasis for niodcrn languagcs is developed. In addition, studying lhc classics 'prepares the theological or scicnlilic studcnt for intcnsivc slndy and research in his field.
