ENGLISH Tiny Vaughan Lit Library, with its collection of belles letlres, is a favorite haunt of English students. Here fresh- men organize clear, imaginative essays, or scrutinize a re- turned blue book,', replete with the inevitable red hiero- glyphics. Sophomores may be seen evaluating the works of famous authors or assiduously absorbing a massive num- ber of pages for the next lit exam. Junior and senior English majors are busy accumulating background for the comprehensive exam in the spring of senior year. The ubiquitous Harbrace Handbook is within reach of all. This year a revamping of English courses for freshmen and sophomores includes only one semester of English com- position. The second semester of freshman, and the entire sophomore year, deals with world literature. PI DELTA EPSILON--J. Powers, S. Dietz. -V fgw:-W-ff ENGLISH FACULTY-Fmsr Row: Mr. C. W. Smith, Mr. P. W.
