i THROUGH THE YEAR ♦ ♦ ♦ The leaves were stabbed red and floated to the ground — over them fell the snow — now on the branches which they left are new leaves, green leaves — a year liad passed. 1946-47 lies behind us. A year is more than calendar months and days of the week — a college year more than two semesters. It is the class hour when thought is stimulated and we suddenly real- ize the power of the mind, the Wednesday morning at chapel when the sun strikes fully upon a face and for a second we feel the cre- ation of nobility.
