The student counselors are chosen by a committee consisting of Dean Rivenburg, Dr. Sutherland, Dean of Men, Forrest Brown, Secretary of the C.A., and Paul Benson, Instructor in Mathematics, and head counselor. The general purpose of the organization is to try and integrate the students new to Bucknell with the goings-on about campus, to aid them in academic work, and to promote cooperation in uniform regulations as regards dormitory life. Starting with Freshman Week, when the neophytes are first exposed to the Bucknell way of living, they are carried thru the entire year with a series of activities which include: picnics, dances, movies, and more or less organized bull sessions, all being conducted with the idea of instilling in the men Bucknell ideals. This group of men behind the scenes, since 1937, has been ably headed by Professor Burpee, Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds. There are on an average about seventy men on the payroll, with a peak of approximately one hundred and ten being employed in the early fall. The new building is a three story structure with space for storing all janitorial supplies as well as other university equip- ment. There are several rooms devoted to specific needs: a carpenter shop, a paint shop, and a pipe and plumbing supplies room. The ground floor serves as a garage for the trucks owned by the university.
