I- , 1 PROPHECY Well today IS Sen1or Day the last day of school not only the last day of th1s year school but the last day of high school for quite a few of us We ve had so much fun and there has been so much going on these last few weeks that when I went to sleep last nlght l that now I hard I must have still had my mind on our Senior class I had a dream so rea ly realize it was only a dream I was back 1n Bucklin on vacation and was eagerly asking for my classmates but was told that very few of them had remained in the old home town Bucklxn had really changed new names on store windows, and new buildings too The most consp1c1ous one was a new theatre with its name The Reco Theatre in big letters Being only a couple of blocks from It I decided to see what it was l1ke 1ns1de I walked up to the t1cket window and was greeted by a famihar voice saying How many please? I looked up 1n astonishment and saw Rosemary Wild one of my old classmates Going on in, I stopped to chat with the ticket taker and discovered that the theatre was under the management of Ruth Polson The customary ticket taker Billy Carter, was off on h1s honeymoon It was almost time for the show to start so the usher guided me to my seat where I set tled myself to enjoy the feature First of course were the advertisements Oh well who wants to look at advertmsernents, but wait what was that? When in Bucklin stay at the Eldra Hotel operated by Anna Mae York Miss Fashion Dress Shop Have vour dresses designed by Alvina or Rosemary Myrtle s Grocery Store I carry everythlng 1n the gro cery 11ne Try jerry s Cafe for a good meal that experlence at King s must have helped jeraldine choose her occupation George s Electric Shop Have your electr1c lmplements fixed here Buy new electrical supplies here Producers Exchange Carl Teeter Man lger Buy your gas and 011 from the Ral ton O11 Company, We offer prompt service Well I saw that a lot of my classmates of 1946 had set up buslness houses in Bucklin even if they weren t living here themselves The House Will Please Come To Order rang out the vo1ce of the Judge It was Warren Dean Anderson and a Judge English 4 must have done h1m some good after all The trial proceeded and as the camera focused on different parts of the room I noticed that a huge crowd was present Sitting up by the Judge s desk fingers flying over the paper was Madelyn Scott taking down the tr1al in shorthand a court stenographer I guess that strug gle through shorthand d1d help out didn t 1t'7 The witness was belng cross exammed by one of the lawyers when all at once I heard a voice Your Honor I object The answer to this question 15 1mmater1al to the court, why this cross examination lt s it s atrocious I knew even before they court objector was brought into view of the lens it couldn t be any one but Edgar Dav1s no one else uses such words, not even lawyers Next in a swift change of scene I saw one of the newest hosp1tals erected 1n Missouri We were belng shown through the bu1ld1ng and as we neared the swltchboard I heard a fam 1l1ar voice but instead of saying Number Please, Hello Bucklm I heard this announce ment Dr Liebhart, wanted 1n surgery Dr Liebhart wanted 1n surgery, Nurse Davis report to room 302 Nurse Davis report to room 302 Well, of course I knew Colleen wanted to be a nurse but I never thought of junior as a doctor and I guess Joan combmed her ambitions to become a nurse with her experience as a telephone operator A fashion show' I always did like pretty dresses Was I ever in luck' One of the models looked familiar and on second glance I saw it was no other than Madeline Hogan I knew she wanted to be a model and now she has her chance What s this 'P A tr1 county fair and they re announclng the prize wlnners By llstening to the speaker I discovered that three of my class were listed as winners by the Judges jo Ann Bailey had received first prize for the best mince meat UoAnn must have seen that show, State Fair back in 46 J Wilfred Fessler got first prize for having ra1sed the best .
