The morning of September 4, 1956, thirteen girls and thirteen boys began a milestone that looms as large as the first tooth, the first step, and first word. The first day is a finely-pulverized lather of book bags, pencils, new overalls, a handkerchief, posing for a picture on the front steps, stiff new shoes, a rattl- ing lunch box, nervous tension, and goodbyes. Later in the year Iimmy Ginter withdrew to enroll in St. Marys: while Iudy Whitney and Sharie Cullen enrolled from Lima and St. Marys respectively. Room parties were held at Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine's Day. During the year quite a number of children celebrated their birthday's at school with a party. We also participated in the Christmas Operetta, The Magic Christmas Bell December 20, 1956.
