The morning of September 4, 1956, thirteen girls and thirteen boys began a milestone that looms as large as the first tooth, the first step, and first word. The first day is a finely-pulverized lather of book bags, pencils, new overalls, a handkerchief, posing for a picture on the front steps, stiff new shoes, a rattl- ing lunch box, nervous tension, and goodbyes. Later in the year Iimmy Ginter withdrew to enroll in St. Marys: while Iudy Whitney and Sharie Cullen enrolled from Lima and St. Marys respectively. Room parties were held at Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine's Day. During the year quite a number of children celebrated their birthday's at school with a party. We also participated in the Christmas Operetta, The Magic Christmas Bell December 20, 1956. Here we are in the year 1963. It has been six years since graduation from Buckland High School. I decided to go to a larger city to get a job. I applied for the position of private secretary to the presi- dent of a bank.I got the job, and to my surprise, the president introduced himself as Paul Chrismer After working for about three months, Paul had to go to Cleveland on business: so, of course, I went along. All went well on the train until about halfway there, when we had engine trouble. I recognized the two mechanics as Howard Debell and lim Becker. The newspaper reporters who covered the story were Pat Bowersock and Marlene Ramga. When we arrived in Cleveland, we went to a famous restaurant for din- ner. The manager recognized Paul, and came over to talk with us. It was then that I learned it was Mike McBeth After leaving the restaurant, we decided to look up some of our class- mates. We visited Mary Ann McClintock, now happily married, with three children, and Ioan Bruner, a social worker in Cleveland. We also called on Tom White, an Agriculture teacher in the Cleveland Schools. He told us that he was building a new house, and invited us to see it. To our surprise, we found Ierry Lishness was his Electrician, and Bob Dearing was the brick- mason. We decided it was time that we were about our business, which was connected with the largest hospital in Cleveland. We were shown around by the head'nurse, Carolynn Ramga, and the receptionist, Sandy Miller. Sunday completed our stay, and we decided to attend church before leaving the metropolis. Imagine our surprise when we discovered that The Reverend Maurice Spacht was delivering the sermon. l v -'f V-- f , v7 1:-:N -, 6412, ,fs .Yi X ,H , ,z v .I X J: I A if - 4 : 0 ' . ' 'V 1 if-'. We have endeavored to make this edi- tion one oi the best and to present to you a pictorial record of the activities in which we have participated. We appreciate the help given us by the teachers we have met and work- ed with the last twelve years. Their guidance and kindness will always be remembered by us. We wish to thank our parents for their untailing faith in us and for the help they have so willingly given us. We also wish to thank the merchants who have put advertisements in our yearbook. Without their financial help we could not have edited this book. We shall always cherish the cooperation shown us by the underclass- men and we realize as we graduate we shall miss our pleasant association. We wish to thank the ones who have purchased this yearbook. We hope that it will be a lasting memory of the class oi 1957.
