A lote To The Teachers We have composed the 1953 “Buccaneer” with our thoughts in the past and our eyes fixed on tomorrow; for while we have worked to put all the price- less memories of this year into a single volume, we have looked ahead to a future for which you, our faculty, have helped us to plan. Without your ef- forts, we would not be able to face our tomorrows prepared for whatever for- tune may give us . All of us Seniors have seen a world filled with fear and uncertainty — wars and rumors of wars — and we have asked ourselves how we can help our nation, how we can live with peace and happiness and light the torch for future genera- tions . No nation is greater than its heritage from the past. We have had a great and goodly past, so we can carry a torch (that we have caught from those who have lived well and nobly) into the future and pass its light on with a brighter light to those who follow us. We are raising our torch to our future happiness, to our hopes for our- selves and others; to our hopes for our great country and its constitutionjto our hope that good will win through in the world — to our hope for peace, security, happiness, and a rosy future! For all that we may be and do in our tomorrows, we thank you, our faculty, for your kindness, consideration, and helpfulness! The Senior Class
