BUCKINGHAM CiuNTRAL HIGH SCHOOL In the summer of 1939 this building was completed. In September of that year the high school pupils from three schools, Buckingham, Curdsville, and Dillwyn, came together in this building. Since then the consolidation has gone on; new friendships have been made and old antagonisms forgotten; life here has been full and rich in many ways; we have learned much and enjoyed many pleasures together. No longer do we think so much of the community from which we come, but we all glory in the fact that Buckingham Central is our school home?

S. degree, puts a hum of activity into the commercial department. Speed, accuracy, and efficiency are key ideals, and each pupil knows that a terrible scolding awaits him if he fails to attain this ideal. A stentorian voice rumbles through the halls- All pupils report to Assembly . Locker doors click shut and scurrying feet hurry towards the auditorium. Mr. Driscoll has spoken. We wonder if something brewed in his chemistry class is responsible for a voice of such carrying power. W. and M. and the University of Va. had a hand in shaping this efficient leader and educator, and granted him B. S. and M. S. degrees. How I dread that Senior English! Miss Sadler surely makes you work . ‘We wonder if Madison College and the University of Va. do that to you before they will give you a B. A. and a M. A. degree, or is it the result»of the “Thirty Years ) War ? Both maybe. In addition to “lending a hand to the many requests for help by both teachers and pupils, Mr. Rainey instructs his classes in math., science, French and geography. lon provided him with foundation work, practical experience has added to his store of knowledge, and further work at University of Va. is about to be rewarded with aM. A. degree. Surely Mary-Baldwin, on a memorable day in June 1939, did not know that this graduate would soon be taking such a wholesome and sincere interest in the pupils of B.C. H. S. It perhaps did know that Miss Lapsley, by giving her best, would inspire her pupils to do their best, whether on the basketball court or in the mathematics or inglish classes. Karly in life Mitty Moore got well up in the world. From that vantage point he views the surroundingss with an impartial eye, but he frequently forgets the lowly things of life. His life at V. P. I. won him aM. S. degree. Somewhere along the line’ he developed a character that elicits the respect and love of all. He puts his whole soul into serving his agricultural boys.
