VARSITY SOCCER Slazzdirzgx Mr. Harris, Wfolff, Burns, Gregory, O'Neil, Goethals, S., Beale, Chvany, Billings. Siffizigs Niles, johannet, C, Gardner, P., Gergeley, lflavin, Stone, li, fflaptj, Crane, Bowersock, Colby, Cate, C. Soccer, like football had its trouble scoring. In only four of the thirteen games played did the varsity score two or more goals. Every game was close though, three league games went into overtime and two others were lost by a single tally. The spirit of the team was outstanding. Each game was played with the excitement of the first game of the season. The soccer talent was there: each player knew how to handle a hall especially captain Ed Stone. The solid play of Herb Colby, Peter Gergeley and Peter Gardner will be missed next fall. Bruce Billings, a rookie in the nets, played excel- lent goal all season. The team was a good one, they lost to a perenially strong St. Marks team by a goal and beat Governor Dummer. The varsity swamped Lexington Christian 5-l and shutout Roxbury Latin, All in all the season was productive meeting up with strong competition from every opponent and handling it well. With an experienced team returning, coaches Harris and Degnon look forward to a good fall.
