Second wuz' Schuster, Connor, Huidekoper, Booty, jacks, Burstein J., Counihan. At the start of the season the 1971 version of the Varsity Football team generated its own winning spirit even before a game was played. After a 1970 season which pro- duced many letter winners and few victories, the only direction the team could go was up. Under new assistant coaches and Mr. Etter they did just that. Through the first four games the offense could only muster two touchdowns, those coming in the St. Paul's game. Then over the final three games the team jelled. It became a team, the team that everyone knew they could be. The varsity pulled out a 34-22 victory over arch-rival Belmont Hill. Then it beat Brooks 20-6 and recorded a 12-8 upset over a strong Roxbury Latin team. Special recognition should go to captain Bill Rappeleye, Dave Murphy and jay Connor who received honorable mention for their play. jamie Cook should be singled out for being voted to the All-League first team. it
