Btu: AND wmn: M- BAND Director Saul Fisher ...gp . uv, ii, Y The Buckhannon-Upshur Band is one of the major activities of the school. There are fifty-seven members, six majorettes, and a drum major in the band under the direction of Saul Fisher. It has its own officers anda representative to Student Council. Its officers are: President, Melvin Hagerg Vice President, Dotty Burnerg Secretary-Treasurer, Patty Wiltg Student Council Representative, Jeff Manser. Each year the Band competes in the Regional Band Festival. If a superior rating is received when the Band p1aY5 at the Regional Festival the Band may go to Huntington to the State Band Festival. Music is furnished at all the football games home and away with a half time show. During basketball season the Band plays at the home games and the majorettes give a half-time show. The Band plays during the assemblies, thuses, and also for the Baccalaureate Sermon and Graduation exercise. For the last five years they have won first place honors at the Philippi Fair. The Band also attends the Forest Festi- val at Elkins each fall. Every June they are the Host Band here in Buckhannon for the Strawberry Festival. The Band raises money for their various trips by having two concerts each year. Tickers are sold by the Band Boosters' Club for both concerts. They also have a Cake Walk eac Spring held on Main Street. Last year the Band made record- ings on the Cozy record label for sale to the public.
