COUNCILS The Student C0l111Qi1 of the Tennerton Division of Buckhannon-Upshur High School was first organized in the year, 1945, at the beginning of the second semester. The members of the Student Council include: a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, a Repre- sentative elected in each homeroom, Club Presidents, and Class Presidents. The Council has one Advisor elected by the members of the Council. In past years, the Council has undertaken and accomplished numerous projects. The most outstanding pro- ject this year is to build bleachers for the baseball field at Tennerton. The money for this project has already been raised through the co-operation of students. Last spring, at the end of the school term, each student donated a school book which was held until the fall term be an, and the profit on these books was given to the Council for the bleacher Each student, donating a booqt, will receive a free ticket to a baseball dgame this comin ipring, m appreciation for their help with this project. The Council also offers suggestions an co-operates with e annual spring Point-System Banquet. Another purpose is to see that the wants and wishes of the student body are presented to the Principal. This year the Council is helping to sponsor the yearbook. Q X , s f 1 I . 8 X 'Nr a The preamble of the Student Council constitution states that: We the students of Buckhannon-Upshur High School, in order to establish justice, perform our duties as members of the school, form a more perfect student body for ourselves and our school. This year our council has undertaken several projects. One of the most important ones is financing the year- book. Other important projects: Magazine Driveg Athletic Banquet, school calendar, cheerleaders, Courtesy Week, all school dance, Student Government Day, bulletin board, scrapbook, Buccaneer of the Month, and we have made plans to adopt an Alma Mater which we consider a very important project, also a landscaping program to aid in beautifying our school tgrounds. One of the most important is the sending of delegates to the state and national conventions thereby pro iting from the contacts made with other student councils of the nation. Officers of our organization are: Ann Page, who is the first girl president 'the Buckhannon-Upshur High Scho- ol council has ever had. Vice President, Ric ard Pagnillop Secretary, Sally Priceg Treasurer, Steve Young: Advi sors, Mrs. Marcia Mae Glauner, Mr. Richard Norvell, and Mr. Harry Hymes.
