in Nt ii 'ax X xx -Zun- The Rhododendron i A - 25-Q , 0 -- XS g Sembr Science Club llhlftofy 333 The Senior Science Club had its origin along with the recently organized clubs of the high school. The purpose is to promote science, to bring those interested in its pursuit into a closer and better contact with each other, and to aid its members to make a more detailed study of science than could be made in the class room. The club was sponsored by Mr. Moats. The charter members were: james Brewer, Wentz Fordyce, Laurence Post, Zaner Post, Charles Pugh, Dennis Ward, Francis Lewis, Victor Gillespie, Charles Ward, Dorsey Zizkefoose, Mary Morgan Herndon, Mary Louise Read, Edith Radabaugh, Russel Nesbitt, Bryant Moore, junior Hartman, Edgar Mundy, James Young, Edward Coyner, Burl Mick, Yale Canfield, Frank Lamb, Carl Lamb, Harry Fallen and George Clark. The following officers were elected: President, james Brewer, Vice President, Wentz Fordyce, Secretary and Treasurer, Laurence Post. Although there was not sufficient time to prove the strength of the club, a chemical vaudeville which was presented in assembly marked the talent of the members. The graduation of the Class of 729 left but a few members. However, the incoming classes filled the club to the appointed membership. The new members were: Jennings Andrews, Bernard Bailey, Paul Brooks, ,Howard Bryant, Eloise Canfield, Robert Foster, Frank Fultineer, Howard Gochenour, Charles Green, Mark Haymond, Hazel Lamb, David Latham, Ray Moore, Sheridan Richards, Glenn Tharp, Holt Varner, john Waugh, Charles White, Orace Young, Patton Young and Bernice Cline. ' We began the year 1930 by adding social affairs to our club routine. Hallowe'en initiation party featured our second meeting. There we elected our new officers. Frank Fultineer was elected president, Bryant Moore, vice president, and Mary Louise Read, secretary and treasurer. Again, we presented an assembly program in which two original plays were given. The club has discussed plans for excursions to nearby towns for the purpose of studying science in industry. The club stands for school spirit, true service, and a better knowledge of the purpose of science. , Page rixty-one
