THE VALUE OF SCHOOL DAYS Have you ever paused during a day's activities and looked back over the grand and glorious hours you spent in a schoolroom? Perhaps these hours didn 't seem as enjoyable during the long drudgery filled days of the school week, but what do they mean to you now? As I glance over momentos and souvenirs of my twelve years as a scholar, I realize that they have meant many happy hours, which I shall treasure for years to come. To me, one of the greatest benefits of entering the halls of learning is the chance to meet, work, and play with your classmates. They are the ones who spark your basketball team to a championship, make your class activities successes, and cheer you when the world seems sad. Yes, the most joyful days of your life will be spent in a classroom or at school activities. If you are a student now, become acquainted with your classmates. Participate in all the school functions possible, for all too soon these days fleet away. Lola Newton '61 8

WHAT IS SCHOOL SPIRIT? It is of the general consensus that school spirit means loyalty and devotion to your alma mater. Participation and interest in school activities are not the only means of expressing school spirit. Students will show it by hard work in their studies also. To have school spirit you don 't even have to attend school. You can be a parent, relative, alumni, or any interested citizeng it only requires an interest in your school and its activities. This can be done by attending sports functions, dances, and P.T.A. Much can be accomplished when everyone has school spirit and does his best to keep it alive in others. Merriel Chesley '62 10
