To me, It means my last horse show of the year. For others, It means their last chance to prove that their pig, lamb, or steer is the best-groomed and trained in their class or category. It means making money for the BVBoost- ers by working in the food barn. To some, it means gaining ten pounds by getting nervous be- fore they show and Indulging themselves in those greasy french fries! But, most of all, It means meeting new friends and getting reacquainted with friends that were met last year. The victo- rious ballgames, the outstanding achle vets, the funny Gong Shows, the cutting of classes; the fights with friends; and the loss of friends were all meaningful. As we took the last step off the podium with diploma In hand, It was the end of an education for some; and for others It was the beginning. Most girls on the team had been used to playing slow pitch, and the switch to fast pitch seemed to make the game go faster. Also, slid- ing, stealing, and hunting made it a lot more exciting. But watching ev- eryone try to figure out which signal Mr. Seely meant while they were up at bat made the game more interest- ing because you never knew what was going to happen. For BV's first year in softball, I felt the team did very well. Girlsi softball at Buckeye Valley definitely holds a solid future. - LuAnne Butts Pg. 82: Top left; Jessica advances into scoring positlon. Middle left; Lisa charges a ground ball. I will never forget the great honor of being namedjunior attendant, It was the most exciting thing that has ever happened to me. Partici- pating in varsity sports has been a good exper- ience and I think it will benefit me throughout my lifetime. I was a junior class team captain and I enjoyed selling products to help support the prom. Working together towards a goal makes us seem more like a family than a school. I was very happy when I got the Ist alternate for Girl's Sta te and I qualified for the National Honor Society. Working hard for good grades isn't always fun, but it all pays off when I see my grade card. Then we were faced with the reality of inflation, when we had to run all over the district pass- ing out information about the levy, and trying to imagine what it would be like if the levy failed and everyone would be separated from all their friends our junior year. Well, the levy passed, the yearbooks came in, along with the class rings and we kept cutting down the freshmen just like any healthy, Ameri- can sophomore class would do. ltls been said that your junior and senior years in high school are the best in your life, but it would be hard to top our sophomore year at Buckeye Valley. Realizing that the value of education must be stressed and encouraged, our students met a great challenge by helping to pass the levy to continue important educational programs.
